There’s plenty of smoothie kiosks and juice bars popping up all around the island, and Smoothie King is by far one of the most popular. I’ve had friends rave to me about how healthy smoothies are, also claiming that they’re ‘good for the soul’. Smoothie King is paradise for calorie counters, with small smoothies having less than 250 calories and 500-calorie combo meal offers. ($9.90)
I’m not a fan of fruity drinks and opted for an Apple Kiwi Kale smoothie with a spicy chicken wrap. The wrap was palatable but average, but the chicken was pretty good and not too dry thanks to the generous helping of chili sauce. The smoothie was delightful, not at all bitter and a little sour which I prefer to sweeter blends. The entire meal was surprisingly filling, and I felt energised for the rest of the day! Bye, food comas.
The smoothies are a little pricey, so Smoothie King is more of an indulgence than an daily meal option. If you’re a health nut, they also offer a range of supplements and enhancers at a small cost. Smoothie King is a great pick-me-up on lousy days - a feel-good, nutritious meal!
I’ve always felt that ordering fruit juices outside was akin to willingly getting scammed. However, some days when you want to have a healthy but filling drink in between meals, there’s no other option but to cave.
The drink I usually order is Berry Beautiful which has a slightly sour tang to it. There was once I decided to switch things up and tried their Hi-Protein Almond Banana. I instantly regretted it. There was a slightly artificial aftertaste, and reminded me way too much of a protein shake.
While their smoothies are definitely satisfying (especially if you order the larger cups), the price is quite steep and I would only have it when I’m craving it, or there is simply no other cheaper option.
On my list of favourite smoothie shops, Smoothie King has got to be one of the top few – even better than Boost. I often visit the outlet at Fusionopolis as it is quiet and the atmosphere is great for a hangout. There’s something about Smoothie King, which makes it seem so vibrant and lively. I think it’s the bright and varying colours of the fruits.
The Blueberry Heaven smoothie is a must-try for all, berry lovers or not. It has an icy smooth texture and slides down your throat leaving you instantly refreshed. It first hits you with a tangy berry flavour, but leaves a sweet aftertaste in your mouth. I love how it does not taste like artificial berry syrup, but real blueberry fruit smoothie that is quite hard to come across. You can also add healthy toppings to your smoothie such as acai or other fruits, or even protein powder. Health junkies would love this store.
They have soooo many other options, flavours and combinations, you’ll definitely be spoilt for choice!
I was never really into Smoothies, until I tried Smoothie King. For the price of a Starbucks frappuccino you can get a much healthier drink. They even provide all sorts of nutritional information, and categorize their drinks according to how they would fit into your diet. Most of the time I don’t know what to make of the information so I usually just look at the calorie count, and for ingredients I like.
My favorite smoothie is the Strawberry and Banana Smoothie, but not all outlets have it. Otherwise, any smoothie with pineapple in it is good. Most of the smoothies, especially those with banana are really thick, so you can even replace a meal with their smoothie if you are on a diet. They also sell wraps if you want a complete meal, those are decent too.
Smoothie King outlets are student-friendly too, i.e you can buy a large smoothie and stay there for hours on end with your laptop. Also, if you give them feedback via the link at the bottom of your receipt, they will give you a discount for your next purchase. It’s just a pretty short survey, definately worth your time!
Great ambience, plenty of electricity plug outlets and highly addictive smoothies. Smoothie King's designed for an enjoyable time, undeniably my favourite place to hang out at with my friends or with a good book. Most of their smoothies include fruits, so it makes you feel good and healthy somehow. The smoothie that holds the first place in my heart has got to be Angel Food. It includes banana, vanilla and other stuff that I don't remember but it's certainly a drink worth trying with its sweet taste and smooth texture. For first-timers who aren't sure, you surely won't go wrong with Angel Food!
Their smoothies are slightly on the pricier range in my opinion, the only thing that's stopping me from frequenting Smoothie King every single day in the week. Especially love the outlet at the very top floor of Cineleisure, but the outlet at Somerset MRT will do as well. Their wraps are yummy but I'd usually give it a pass unless I have extra cash to spare.
Should you be on the lookout for your usual sugar rush, please do reconsider the alternatives. Although healthier alternatives low in sugar are wrapped in myths that they do not taste as good and hence do not confer the same level of satisfaction, I found my experiences with Smoothie King to be on the contrary.
I feel that the Smoothies offered by Smoothie King tastes best in their fruity form. With an assorted range of flavours available along with the choice to combine them, you can whip up an original drink of the day. Personally, I prefer banana island, healthy and promotes weight loss through the burning of fats and almond chocolate for the Hi-protein range, which I found beneficial after a vigorous workout where my muscles are crying to be fed.
Moreover, the promotions on offer at Smoothie King, though relatively pricey at $9.90, offers greatly increased flexibility. You choose which combinations of flavours you want and the set comes with a wrap of your choice as well. Moreover, the guarantee is that the meal holds less than 300 calories and hence is a healthy way to fill your stomach whilst avoiding weight gain.
Worth a visit!
I love Smoothie King!!! I'm usually a Starbucks green tea frappe kind person but when I want something not so heavy, I'll opt for Smoothie King. My usual order will be a large Angel Food! It feels clean, smooth and not cloyingly sweet unlike some smoothies out there. I guess it's because they use really fresh fruits instead of syrups/ additives and such. The smoothie tastes pleasantly sweet and refreshing as the flavor of the fruits blend together harmoniously.I haven't tried any other flavours yet because I love Angel Food so much! One large cup costs $7.70 and fills me up nicely. So it's like a drink + meal kinda thing.
If you are health-conscious, there are 'boosters' that you can add into your drink at an additional cost of $1. I saw protein powder, muscle builder and collagen powder. I haven't had anything added into my Angel Food yet because the Angel needs none of those :P The only thing I don't like about this place will be the styrofoam cup that they use... that's just a personal preference. I dislike holding anything made from styrofoam. The staff at Smoothie King 313 are very friendly and polite as well. The seating area is always clean and there are always seats available when I go there for my drink.
I am one of those people who love health foods, and would willingly drink smoothies or eat frozen yogurt ,etc. instead of eating a real meal. And, unsurprisingly, this is a really good place for me. They sell fruit smoothies and frozen yogurt, and also healthy wraps and sandwiches. I just love the variety of healthy foods here.
Smoothies are priced at around 7 or 8 dollars each, for large sized ones, so there is nothing to complain about the price because Starbucks costs about the same. The smoothies include fat free, high protein and other healthy options, with boosters including electrolyte and soy protein. Great for the masses. There is also sufficient information to know what to choose. I recommend those smoothies with yogurt :). Have fun; these smoothies are good for you.
Compared to Boost, I would find this place Sub-par. Despite their exuberant promises of having the drinks catered to the different kinds of healthy for health freaks, I personally find their drinks are still too sweet for my liking.
Can't tell if it's me just being picky or me not knowing how to appreciate the sweet things in life.
Anyhow, I do suppose that it can be considered a good hang out place with friends because more often than not their cafes are usually empty with many seats. Just nice for some catch up time with your long-lost buddy and maybe a sip of some juice craving.
I love Smoothie King. I honestly think its the best option when you're out shopping around town and you get hungry but not hungry enough for a full meal. Its so simple to just grab a smoothie and keep on shopping!
Smoothies can be really filling and nutritious and one major plus point is how they place all the calorie information on the menu next to the item. I've always found myself making healthier choices when I'm here which is always good.
Also if you're into bulking up and stuff then you can add protein powder to your drinks. Its a wonderful healthy option.
