Ikoi Japanese Restaurant offers a gastronomic indulgence with an endless parade of authentic Japanese cuisines perfectly set in a lush Japanese setting.
A quality Japanese buffet
Located at a corner, inside Miramar Hotel is a Japanese restaurant serving a very authentic Japanese ala-carte buffet. If you are looking for a Japanese buffet with excellent quality and freshness, Ikoi Japanese Restaurant is the place to indulge. Ikoi restaurant present a very typical Japanese restaurant settings; neat and tidy, cozy and comfortable. When you enter their restaurant, you are greeted by photos of celebrities that have visited the restaurant covering the wall.
They are famous for their affordable ala-carte buffet, and their menu serves over 50 kinds of dishes. Besides the dishes you ordered, the friendly staff will go around bringing complimentary to your table, which I find it quite rare among the restaurants in Singapore. Besides the sashimi is a must-have, some of their must try are salmon skin temaki , tempura and chawanmushi. However, they serve in a small portion, if you would like to have more and are confident that you are able to finish it, let the staff know and they will serve the portion according to your request.
The buffet at Ikoi is totally worth it as there are many varieties, food freshness maintained and great services provided. Reservation need to be made in advance as the restaurant is always full. If you are coming in a big group, do reserve a week in advance as they have limited spaces for bigger group.

A Japanese Buffet That Will Leave Your Belly Filled
Tucked away in Miramar Hotel is Ikoi Japanese Restaurant, a hideaway for a scrumptious Japanese buffet that’ll leave you stuffed with contentment. Walk into the restaurant and you’ll see the pictures of famous local and international celebrities plastered on the walls. Yes, you have come to the right place.
This is more than just your average Japanese buffet. Expect innovative dishes such as salmon sashimi drizzled with a tangy yuzu sauce for starters and their gratinated mayo Hokkaido scallops. For the price of $38++ per pax and an array of over 50 dishes to choose from, you will simply be spoilt for choice. Not to mention, the sashimi slices are sliced very thickly and the restaurant receives a daily delivery of fresh fish for hungry customers!
I have honestly not found another Japanese buffet that has come close to the standards of Ikoi. Remember to call for an advanced booking as only reservations are accepted due to the large influx of customers! Trust me, it’ll be worth it.
Best of both worlds
The thing about pairing Japanese cuisine with buffet is that usually the quality of the food drops drastically due to the quantity they have to actually prepare and cater. Ikoi's quality of Japanese food exceeds the expectations for a Japanese buffet and in fact, I haven't found any Japanese buffet that can match Ikoi's standards. Kiseki comes close, but that's about it.
Great value for money with over 50 a-la-carte items to choose from, Ikoi's sashimi and chawanmushi are certainly not to be missed. What is interesting is that every time you visit the restaurant, you will be offered complimentary "item of the day", something specially made for guest daily and on the house. Ikoi gets really crowded all the time, so it will be good to book in advance or prepare to be disappointed.
Japanese buffet great for sashimis.. Overall not great..
If you are looking for Japanese sushi buffet, with a wide variety to choose from, Ikoi Japanese Restaurant located in Miramar Hotel might be worth a visit. Provided you going for quantity over quality.
An adult costs $38++ and requires advance reservation. You will first be welcomed with massive photos of local and overseas celerities taken with the shopowner. They are popular for their sashimi, thus sashimi lovers might love this place. At intervals, there will be complimentary dishes given to you. Not all of them tastes special, but probably termed as complimentary due to only one plate per table. Other than their sashimi, basically most of their other dishes are average only. Be prepared some dishes might be missing from your table. You can try to lace your order with them again, but no promise of it's attendance still!
Ikoi is so well known for its quality buffet that you can never seem to get a seat without making a reservation first. Even so, they might seat groups at counter seats due to the constraint in space. Once there, you can see that customers seated next to each other barely have elbow space.
I give Ikoi credit for their sashimi — those thick and fresh slices would have you ordering plate after plate. They served this complimentary hot pot soup which I did not like. Also, the variety is not huge and as I am only willing to eat that so few types of items, it gets repetitive after awhile.
One of my favorite jap buffets
You would never expect a bustling place in a hotel. The staff were friendly and greeted us as soon as we walked in. Great customer service right from the start, and throughout the meal. Laughter just filled the whole place, warming up the entire restaurant.
We ordered a variety of things. You know it, almost everything on the menu looks good. I loved their salmon teriyaki, sashimi (enjoyed the freshness) and ebi tempura. Yummylicious! The assortment of their sashimi also impressed me :)
Remember to book in advance. The place is definitely worth the visit!
Lovely Japanese Restuarant
I used to come here quite frequently for small company dinners as it was a favorite of my ex-boss. He is a regular here and we would usually book a private room.
The service of the staff is excellent with our every request catered for. The food is among the best Japanese food I have tasted. My ex-employer was quite the connoisseur when it came to Japanese food and his "stamp" of approval on this place was quite impressive as he can be quite critical of food quality.
I have many fond memories of this place and always look at it with a sense of nostalgia for the fantastic food and camaraderie I experienced here.
Worth the money!
Ikoi is a lovely Japanese restaurant, one of my favourite in fact. It is intricately designed and has a delightful Japanese setting. Ikoi serves up fresh and simply delicious Japanese cuisine. Almost everything is excellent, ranging from the sushi to the sashimi and so on. The sashimi is served is generous portions, and is really fresh.
The other dishes such as the salmon head and BBQ chicken wings are equally as yummy, and the best part about this buffet is that all the food is freshly cooked. You never get those pre cooked and re heated dishes. It is definitely worth the money! I would advise people to book in advance if you are thinking of going as Ikoi is normally fully booked on the weekends.
Good experience, love the freshness and would go back for more!
Ikoi is a Japanese food restaurant there is located in Hotel Miramar. I had been there twice and I would definitely go back for me.
Priced at appr $40 per pax (for lunch), I feel that it is value for money. You get what you have paid for. Ikoi is a really small restaurant but I love the interior design and the concept. It is really very Japanes-ish thus giving a very homely and cosy feeling. Although it is buffet style, you do not go around picking food. There would be a menu for you and you would have to order via the waitress. The downside of it is that you would not be able to see what you are ordering as the menu does not provide any pictures.
Food wise, I love the food alot, especially the sashimi platter. They come in generous servings and the presentation really appeals alot to me. Their sushi really good too and their soup (starters) was addictive! The only thing I didnt quite like was the tempura which was quite hard and dry.
However, there is one problem with Ikoi and that is their service is really slow. Since we have to order via the waitress, most of the time the waitresses were really busy or nowhere to be seen.
Thus, word of advice: if you are there, do order a lot at all go but you wouldnt know when is the next time the waitress would appear! And, do make a reservation especially during weekends!
