Amazing meets Affordable
Perfect score in all aspects!
Found this little humble store tucked away at a corner right next to a HDB lift landing at Tanjong Pagar, and the ambience of the store totally blew me away. The small and cozy restaurant reeked of the strong Japanese culture with its flags and staff uniform. From the music playlist down to the utensils, everything just screamed "Japan!!!"and it was definitely an amazing experience.
My friend and I decided to give it a try and we promised to return again someday. The Tonkotsu broth was very well done and certainly one of the best I've ever tried. I only Instagrammed the food AFTER I was done with it, because I simply couldn't put the spoon down after tasting it for the first time. Their staff and chefs are Japanese which made the experience even more memorable. All of their ramen cost less than $15, which was a delight to my student wallet. Also, they have a lot of promotions going on, such as free fried rice during lunchtime etc.
Tanjong Pagar Ramen Champion
Ramen Champion winners for 2011 aand 2012, Ikkousha finally has a stand alone store in the ramen district of Tanjong Pagar. After trying most of the ramen outlets in Tanjong Pagar, I can honestly say this place is definitely one of the top 3 ramen shops around.
The Tonkotsu broth was full bodied and served piping hot, I finished it to the last drop. The ramen noodle also had a good amount of bite but could be a little firmer for my tatste. However, the cha shu is thinly sliced and wasn't anything special.
If you're looking for somewhere new to have ramen in the Tanjong Pagar area, this place is definitely worth a try. They also have a lot of Japanese customers, showing how good it is.
