Salted Caramel Hot
Handcrafted by people avid about sharing the gratification of premium ice cream, using natural ingredients, with no preservatives and artificial sweeteners.
One of the better ice cream around!
Located at Thomson, where all the good food can be found, Salted Caramel started out on the winning side. Patrons who drop by at the stretch of road along Thomson for Prata or minced meat noodles will tend to drop by Salted Caramel for a dessert fix. Am I glad I gave it a try, it easily became one of my favourite ice cream shop!
My favourite ice cream there would have to be... What else? Salted Caramel ice cream! It has a refreshing taste to it and is definitely different from the usual ice cream flavors that you have eaten. Horlicks and Tim Tam is unique too and more for the Horlicks lovers! They used to have this hazelnut flavor but I haven't seen it for quite some time, no idea if they removed it from the menu or I just happened to be unlucky. Anyway, the ice cream is quite cheap! 2 scoops for $5 and the scoops are usually huge, worth every penny!
For those who think that ice cream is not enough, you can always top it off with waffle or brownie, as I believe that this is the best combination to have ice cream in for most people! Cakes are also sold in the ice cream shop. I haven't tried any yet, but they looked really appetizing, especially the strawberry cheesecake. So people, when you are at Thomson area for lunch or dinner, do pop by Salted Caramel for desserts! But don't blame me if you find yourself craving for its ice cream after eating it!

mediocre ice cream
Strategically located along Upper Thomson Road, Salted Caramel serves handcrafted ice cream with natural ingredients, no artificial preservatives and sweeteners. Salted Caramel was one of the first ice cream parlours that started the ice cream upsurge. As its name suggests, their specialty flavor is the Salted Caramel flavor.
Although this flavor is popular among majority of those who frequent Salted Caramel, I didn’t quite like it. I actually don’t quite fancy ice cream in general, but the Yuzu Ginger flavor had a pleasant taste to it. The small ginger bits gave the refreshing yuzul flavor a kick, something unique that not many places have.
Salted Caramel is also famous for their waffles, which are 80% crispy. I personally prefer my waffles to be crispy on the outside yet soft and fluffy on the inside, so this didn’t work for me. I would recommend anyone in the vicinity to try this out.
Gourmet ice cream
Salted Caramel is located at Upper Thomson, along a stretch of hipster cafes such as Pacamara. With competitor Udders just across the road, Salted Caramel has amassed a sizeable fan base for its ice cream. There is usually a waiting line of up to 20 mins after dinner or during supper hours.
What I love about Salted Caramel is their waffles. I’ve visited the cafe at least 3 times and they never seem to fail each time I visit. Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, the waffles add an additional texture to the ice cream. In fact, their ice cream is extremely delicious as well! I especially love their Green tea flavour (very few cafes still serve this flavour now) and cookies and cream. The flavour of the ice cream is rich and the ice cream is extremely dense and creamy.
Only 2 bus stops away from Marymount MRT, I highly recommend ice cream lovers to give Salted Caramel a go!
Looove this place!
Used to hang out here after school or at night because they have amazing ice-cream at really reasonable prices. A staple here for me is their waffle with ice-cream, and I always pick salted caramel as one of the flavours. God knows how much I like this flavour. The other flavour is typically experimental, but you can't go wrong with their chocolate flavours.
This place gets crowded at night though, so I prefer dropping by in the evening when it's nice and empty. Will always visit this place when I'm in the Thomson vicinity and one of my favourite ice-cream places everrr.
The first time I came, I tried the waffle with salted caramel ice cream and horlick tim tam ice cream. Best. Decision. Ever. It has since been my staple every time I'm here. The chocolate stout and the earl grey are quite good as well, but salted caramel and horlicks are just the best combination to me. They balance each other out very nicely, and the waffle is sweet and soft, drizzled with copious amounts of maple syrup/chocolate sauce (depends on what you choose).
The salted caramel is one of the best versions of this flavour that I've tried, not overly sweet. While you can taste the salt, it's more to compliment the ice cream rather than being a distinct taste by itself. The consistency of the ice cream is also just right, not too hard or soft and it doesn't leave an icy taste in your mouth. Definitely one of my favourite ice cream places to go to! The prices are also reasonable as well.
I would say that Salted Caramel is one of the more, if not the most, prominent ice cream parlour along Upper Thomson Road. There's even a bus stop directly infront of the outlet, making it hard to ignore.
As their name suggests, they are most known for their Salted Caramel ice cream. I personally found it okay, but have friends who absolutely love it. I actually prefer their other flavours such as Earl Grey and Matcha, to name a few. I also feel that to truly savour their handcrafted ice cream, one should definitely choose a cone over a cup.Their golden brown wafer cones are crisp and slightly sweet, complementing their ice cream perfectly!
Overall, I feel that they have a good variety of flavours, polite-enough staff and a neat seating area. It's definitely not a bad place to consider for dates or catch up sessions with good company.
Salted Caramel is one of my go-to places whenever I need some ice cream as a comfort food or just to chill with friends. It is located at Upper Thomson Road, in between a Prata shop and Udders which is awesome. Usually my friends and I would get some prata, then go over to Salted Caramel and then to Udders, and that would conclude a full lunch with desserts.
Some of my favourite ice creams are: salted caramel, tim tam, baileys and earl grey. The ice creams there taste pretty unique, different from what we usually get in the typical ice cream stores. Their waffles are okay, but I would suggest that you head over to Udders for waffles instead, it’s a little nicer.
It isn’t a very big store and though there are some seats outside the store, it is usually crowded in the weekends and weekdays evenings so go in the noon if you want to check out salted caramel!
Favorite ice-cream flavors all in one roof!
THEY HAVE ALL MY FAVORITE ICE-CREAM FLAVORS. Yes, in one place, such a rare find!! :D
I was jumping for joy when I saw they had the flavors of Matcha, Salted Caramel, Peanut Butter and not forgetting Pistachio (which is so difficult to find!). The greedy me, faced with my favorite selections, chose 2 big spoonfuls and was of course.. unable to finish. Haha! I enjoyed them nonetheless! I found the Matcha a little too powdery though?
My friend's Salted Caramel as well as Peanut Butter ice-cream tasted superb! Sweet but not exactly overwhelming that it makes you cringe.
If the working staff could be a little more cheerful, they'll definitely top my list as the to-go ice-cream store!
Jar of Happiness!
Salted Caramel is firstly my divine place for a nice chit chat session with a friend, or close one.
Maybe its the aroma of the ice cream and baked waffles that blend in nicely together to form a magical sinful concoction to make the hang out complete. I LOVE THE OH SO nice smell that lingers when I enter salted caramel. Its like I have just stepped into a place promising me that my time spent at Salted Caramel will be guaranteed-satisfaction. Smell plays a huge part so good on Salted Caramel that their store impresses my sensory organs.
Or maybe its the place itself. The one at Thomson(I frequent there) is neatly properly set up and it looks very inviting for people to come and chill out here. We're at this day and age where looks are vital so I do see why Salted Caramel is such a big hit for teens nowadays.
Or even maybe its the - NO MAYBE, IT IS. It is because the food there on its own is sufficient enough to lure people in. U go to Salted Caramel, u try the Salted Caramel ice cream. Salty and savoury and creamy, the delight will stay in your mouth longer than your stay at this ice cream place.
'Maybe's are uncertain, but I promise you try the Salted Caramel's salted caramel ice cream. 'You won't regret it', says me.
Earl Grey Ice Cream
I have always wanted to go back to Salted Caramel after my first trip there but it is simply too far out and travelling there and back would take me all eternity.
Exaggeration aside, I enjoyed my time at Salted Caramel. I went with my food buddy and we decided to get a scoop of Salted Caramel, Earl Grey, and Dark Chocolate flavours. One might assume by its name that the best flavour to buy would be Salted Caramel, but it didn't really sit well with my tastebuds. Not the ice cream's fault, I just have a really sweet tooth and it didn't really cut it. Would have sprinkled some sugar on it if I could.
What did intrigue my senses was the Early Grey flavour which quickly became a favourite due to its subtle flowery taste. I have been hankering for it ever since.
For its price, the ice cream serving wasn't too bad, but could be better #typicalsingaporean
favourite Ice Cream parlour
I know I specified in my Udders review that I'm usually torn between these two stalls, but if it really boils down to life-and-death situations (okay exaggerating just a little), I'll choose Salted Caramel.
For one, flavours at Udders, though nowhere near in quality, are easily available elsewhere. At least for my personal favourites. There's Mao Shan Wang at The Daily Scoop. Peanut Butter at Salted Caramel itself. But the unique flavour of Salted Caramel is, well, you guessed it, Salted Caramel. The blend between salty and sweet strikes an exquisite balance in which the tastes lingers in your mouth, leaving you craving for more. Impossible to be sick of, because of the edge the little salt provides. Another favourite is the Earl Grey, which tastes milkier than the Udders one and also sweeter. The ones who prefer it stronger will go for the Udders one, probably. Lastly, the Strawberry. I myself prefer more natural tasting strawberry flavoured ice cream without it tasting like it's too healthy - Salted Caramel does the trick.
Salted Caramel remains my favourite place to go for ice cream as Salted Caramel has indeed become my favourite flavour. I can safely say that I can't live without it. No exaggerations here.
