Can't get enough
Despite being an Instagram addict, ice creams from Ice Cream Gallery are my weaknesses and it is just impossible for my hand to dig into my bag for my phone before taking a big spoonful of my favourite Avocado with Gula Melaka. I dare to say this is the best ice cream i have tasted in my mere existence of 20 years and if you see a savage licking an ice cream cup by the road side at Tanjong Pagar, that's probably me.
It's not that i am a fan of live-fast-die-young and refuse to get seats in the shop everytime, the fact that i can't get seats for even a small group of 3 (my parents and i) just proves the number of nods Ice Cream Gallery is getting from the foodies.
There are plenty of flavours to choose from and with the constant flow of crowd, picking two flavours everytime for my double scoop always feel like making a United Nation decision or doing a Ph.D research paper. I've done neither of the aforementioned, that's how intense the crowds are and the extensive the choices.
Delicious, but the outlet can be cramped
I've been here many times because the main outlet is located near my school. Not only are the ice cream flavours inventive, they're delicious! I've tried several different flavours, including Irish Cream, Rum n Raisin and Sea Salt Caramel and Almond, which is my favourite. I usually get two scoops, and it's enough to satisfy my sweet tooth!
Some people might consider the 3.50 per scoop a little overpriced, but I think the price is definitely worth it. The ingredients are premium and the end result is memorable and tasteful. However, I would suggest you try a free sample before deciding on what to buy as some of the items might not suit everyone's palate. The only qualm I had is that the seating area was a little cramped, so you might want to check whether there are any seats available in the outlet before buying your ice cream.
cosy place to chill out with ice cream
Ice cream!! The bigger the scoop, the more we love it! HAHA that's so typical singaporean but who cares? They serve really big portions of ice cream and I find that their ice cream tastes really different from the others. How should i describe? They have really interesting and unique flavours that I have taken a liking to immediately! Especially their zesty lemon and blueberries & mint oreo! U cannot find any ice cream parlor with such flavours around! A cup of coffee/tea with a slice of cake is also a must try in this cosy place! Trust me, the peaceful ambiance supplements to the mouth-watering cakes! A good combi!
I also tried their cheesy hotdog bread @ the valley point outlet and i must say it's really good too!! First time having hotdogs in an ice cream parlor! It's like a very homely place to chill out after work /school and just relax a little, listening to the nice music playing.. Well, I had a good experience there and i'm sure you would not regret coming here!
Plain simple is the new unique
Too often now you see ice cream being made on marble slabs infront of you with weird toppings and unique flavours, but then you start to wonder. What ever happened to the simple scoop and serve ice cream?
Other than the usual hagen daaz and Ben and Jerry's, you might find the Ice Cream Gallery off upper East coast road pretty much a dazzling delight. With its 100% homemade and fresh ice cream, their friendly staff will guide you along a delightful bunch of flavours to choose from, not to mention with a pretty huge helping too!
I find the Ice cream gallery up there on my top five ice cream parlour list, for the simple fact the plain simple has turned into the new unique. It has driven away from competition amongst the custom made Cold Stone or ice cream chefs, and has served up the original platter made from our own backyard.
I contemplated really long before deciding to post this review because icecream gallery is a place not many know of yet and I want it to remain that way. A high demand for it might cause the quality to drop... But oh well I will share it with y'all anyway.
I often patronize the one at river valley. They are very generous with their scoops - one scoop is equivalent to about 1.5-2 scoops at other outlets. I often go for their mint and durian icecream because the durain tastes authentic and the mint is really cooling in the throat. Its very unlike other mint flavours out there.
Tip: their single scoop w 2 flavours is 1 dollar more but it's slightly larger than single scoop so take that if 2 scoops' too many for you!
