Decent lunch buffet
I went for the lunch buffet at the Marriott Café yesterday and although the buffet spread isn't the widest out there, I still think the food they offer was pretty good!
The ambience of the place is simple yet luxurious at the same time. When I entered the café, the first food item I saw was smoked salmon - my all-time favourite. After walking around, I noticed that they also offer oriental dishes, as well as Western dishes. In classic Denise style, I went for the dessert first - starting with the crème brûlée, tiramisu and vanilla ice cream. I thought the crème brûlée was excellent, although I didn't really fancy how burnt the sugar on the top was. The tiramisu wasn't excellent - although this could be because I'm spoilt by my mom's amazing tiramisu - and the vanilla ice cream was of high quality. I usually sprinkle rainbow rice over my ice cream at buffets but since they didn't have rainbow rice, I settled for brown sugar and it was no disappointment to my sweet tooth.
I also tried their roast beef, sashimi and many other dishes that I can't exactly remember because I ate so much. I only remember that they were all excellent!
I think the Marriott Café is a good place to go to for a buffet lunch that isn't too lavish. While I'd definitely recommend it to everyone, I wouldn't suggest visiting more than once - It's entirely possible to try all the food in one sitting.
Besides the Equinox at Swissotel, Mumsy and I also like to have high tea at the Marriott Cafe. Oh wait, make that Lunch, High Tea and Dinner buffet at Marriott Cafe.
They have the works: Asian cuisine, live cooking station (Drunken Prawns), salad bar, hot soup counter, western cuts, seafood bar, DIY station (Mix-Your-Own-Rojak), ice cream counter with add-you-own-toppings, house made cakes and pastries, fresh juices bar and a corner for whatever festive season offerings available for that period.
The managers and wait staff are very passionate in what they are there for, servicing customers. Always accommodating, always service with a smile. Request to change a table? No problem, ma'am. Request for scalding hot water? No problem, ma'am. Request to change soiled cutlery? No problem, ma'am.
Excellent food, excellent service. Absolutely nothing else to ask for.
Marriot Café: The perfect blend of indulgence and service.
One of the best service I have encountered thus far. I was late for this buffet, although I made a reservation for lunch buffet.
However I only arrived about fifteen minutes before lunch closed. The manager was really kind and understanding to me, and came over to my table and brought me food and suggested items, as well as informing me that lunch was closing, and asked me if I would like to make a last round, and even extended my time into the tea Buffet. In terms of the food, it had the usual buffet array from raw oysters, sashimi, smoked salmon to this really fantastic potato gratin at the Western corner that I particularly liked.
The desserts corner was well stocked with all kinds of cake in small portions. Although it is a bit on the pricey side, but the service was so good that I have absolutely nothing to complain about.
