Always passionate about food and wine, an idea sparked within. Michael believed that a commitment to customer service excellence in addition to the use of the highest quality ingredients and innovative menus would be a recipe for success. With his vision to modernize the Singapore dining scene he established his first restaurant, Michelangelo’s.
Michaels’ true passion is in the bottle, the wine bottle that is. Michelangelo’s award winning wine list as comprehensive as it is reasonably priced. Arguably Asia’s best wine program, the same dedication and passion goes into every selection. The acclaimed Wine Spectator Magazine has perennially awarded his restaurants with their “Best of Excellence Award”; something very few Singapore restaurants have achieved.
I'm not sure about this place in the evening as i frequent here for lunch. It is always quiet during lunch time and i love value for money set lunches. It is easy to find a parking lot here at chip bee in the afternoon and the whole neighbourhood is just laid back and relaxed. If you are sick of the craziness over at Holland Village, this is a very good alternative.
Service is also always pretty excellent as on some occasions, i am the only guest for the lazy afternoon. (At least for the time i am there)
Definitely a good date place with decent food.
Tucked away at a lovely neighborhood at Chip Bee Gardens, this restaurant has a nice ambience, great for special occasions.
They had a wide selection of pasta to choose from. The tandoori pasta (italian/indian fusion) is a must try! According to my friends, the seafood aren't too bad, the cod fish and the barramundi is fresh and they are well presented on the plater.
I also ordered Michelangelo’s Legandary Tiramisu. The savoirdi biscuits had a consistency similar to a sponge which was enriched which the strong flavors of espresso and liqueur while the consistency and texture of the mascarpone was simply sublime. The cocoa powder drizzled over the mascarpone ensured that the Tiramisu wouldn’t be overly sweet, as this certainly was one of the Best Tiramisu’s i have had to date locally. Definitely something to spoil yourself at the end of your meal!
Most notable was however, not the food, but the excellent service. They were generous with the refilling of their yummy warm bread, served with a trio of pesto. We brought my 2 year old niece to a fine dinning restaurant, although she was behaving reasonably, she did throw a fit once or twice. The staff not only patiently accommodated us, they even went out of their way to make us feel welcomed, bringing us markers and crayons for her to draw with.
I'm giving this place a 4.5 purely on the quality of wine that you can find here.
Many places serve wine. Some places have a wider range, some have more exclusive bottles, while some are better off not serving anything at all. Michelangelo's, in my opinion, lies straight in the middle - a great mix of the oenophile experience.
With a blend of both Old and New World wines, they have an extremely huge range of bottles - 1,500 if I am not mistaken. You can find anything from red wines from the Parisian region, to vintage 1987 rose from exotic Chile. I particularly like how beginner-friendly the staff here are. Instead of being an intimidating sommelier, they take the time to educate and select the perfect glass/bottle for you. Truly personal, and definitely two thumbs up to them for the effort.
A great place to go.
If you are ever looking for a place to have good food and a place to catch up with good friends, this is definitely a must visit restaurant. The scenery at Holland Village is excellent and the ambience the restaurant provides is fantastic. It is best to visit this place for lunch because their set meals include high quality food and is indeed worth every cent of yours.
I fondly remember me and my mum dining here on a Saturday. Despite the crowd, service was great and we did not have to wait long for the food. I would highly recommend people to have their meals here because the set lunch is most certainly to die for.
