Good Optician Providing Professional Vision Care
For several years now, I've been visiting Anco Optics, our family optician located in Clementi Avenue 2 in the west of Singapore, for my prescription spectacles / eyewear. Resident optician Pauline Lim has a Diploma in Optometry, a Certificate in Contact Lens Practice, and is part of the Singapore Optometric Association (SOA).
While Anco Optics also offers services for contact lenses, I've always used spectacles thus far. Anco Optics has a good range of spectacle frames, ranging from cheap to expensive, no name to branded, retro to trendy. The selection of spectacle frames is somewhat limited compared to other optical eyewear stores, but is sufficient for most tastes. Anco Optics also has a small range of sports eyewear and shades.
The longest waiting time at Anco Optics is usually to get your eyes examined, as Pauline Lim is the sole optician here. This means waiting times during peak periods can stretch up to 40 minutes, though generally you'll only be waiting about 10 - 20 minutes or so. Eye examination is relatively quick, taking about 5 - 10 minutes or so, and her years of experience means her judgement is pretty accurate.
If placing an order for a new pair of spectacles (frame and lenses), it would take between 5 - 7 days for it to be ready for collection. Depending on the type of spectacles frame or lens chosen, prices can range from SGD $200 - $700. Waiting time for collection of spectacles / eyewear is minimal, about 10 minutes or less including testing and adjustments. Product durability is relatively good, lasting about 2 - 5 years, and quality is reliable.
