Cheapest Carrot Cake in SG That Is Actually Good
In this age of rising standards of living and creeping prices, where else but in Toa Payoh can you still find carrot cake for a whopping $2? Not just any carrot cake but crispy, almost creamy and slightly sweet white carrot cake with an amazing chili sauce that coats the top of the egg batter like a second skin. Sound yummy?
I grew up eating this carrot cake, and for six years, the price of the carrot cake has remained at $2 - portion size unchanged. It is so good that the 8am queue stretches for an hour, despite there being another black carrot cake substitute just nearby. Not mushy nor hard, this light and fluffy carrot cake is crispy and sweet on the outer golden brown layer and lightly salted on the white daikon - and once topped with the homemade chili sauce, you’ll find that $2 for carrot cake is simply not enough.
