The reason I love where I live
Located at Block 417’s Kim San Leng, De Yun Bak Kut Teh ($5.50) is a staple for most residents living around the area. In fact, I have become almost afraid to try other Bak Kut Tehs elsewhere, knowing that I can’t find a flavour like De Yun’s anywhere else.
Bak Kut Teh can be classified as either herbal or peppery, and since I’m not really for herbal tasting soups, De Yun’s Bak Kut Teh Teochew-style, peppery soup is perfect for me. Additionally, De Yun never scrimps on the portions, ensuring that every bowl gets a deserving amount of meat. Another plus point would be that the soups are refillable, so if you haven’t had enough of the yummy, peppery soup (me everytime), just give the stall aunties or uncles a call!
Although Bak Kut Teh is readily available at every corner of Singapore, my tastebuds only ever crave for one particular taste - De Yun Bak Kut Teh soup. This stall has a special place in my heart, and I’ve found it difficult to remove their Bak Kut Teh from my weekly meals ever since.
