Genetically superior

Bak Kut Teh is one of the famous dishes around in Singapore. The peppery taste of the soap, the soft and tender pork ribs. Even the mei cai's yummy. Boy, I'm already salivating as I'm typing this. Yes, many of us agree that Bak Kut Teh is undeniably the unhealthiest dish around. Blame it on the high cholesterol levels, which is why I tend to have Bak Kut Teh once a month.

I like having a late breakfast at Havelock Road. Main reason is because it's nicely furnished with air-con. Families are a common sight. It's always a joy to see kids enjoying this delicacy. What's not to love? Although, availability of seats is an issue. The place is rather small; it's a oommon sight to see huge crowds outside. However, do not let this fool you. There is a silver lining. All of the waiters are really efficient. Ordering took less than a minute. They have an amazing memory.

I remember one time our soup was finishing soon, a waiter came up and helped us to refill. Even without us asking, which is great! I enjoy spending quality time with my family at Ya Hua. I guess it's because we're more candid at the dining table.

Yummy Soupie

One word to explain the soup. MARVELOUS !!! It is best to eat especially during rainy days like now. Most importantly, the soup can be refilled as many times as you want. But provided, please finish it up if you ask for a refill as it will be a waste if you leave the whole bowl untouched.

As for the meat stomach, I give it a 3 star. At times, the meat and its stomach is abit hard. Service wise is average. For price, I think its about 50 dollars for 3 person. Though its abit ex, but its definitely worh the price. To summarise, the soup is still the best out of the best !

Warm soup on a rainy day

I love having warm soups and BKT on rainy, cold days as opposed to sweltering hot weathers. This is a place I will think of if I need a bowl of warm meaty goodness. It's a ten-minute drive away from my place and knowing that there's such a good place to have a comforting meal, it makes me happy. I love meat, I love soup. This BKT is a best combination of both! The peppery kick that the soup gives also keeps my tummy extra warm and comfortable.

As the reviewer below has mentioned, serving is a tad small. It is enough for me, a girl of average-sized appetite to finish everything and feel comfortably full. The fried doughstick which is being snipped into bite-sized pieces are best eaten with it being soaked in the hot, peppery soup. In case you are wondering, the peppery flavor of the soup is not overwhelming at all. It's very comfortable and addictive! You have to try it to know it. I usually skip the tea as I am not a fan of Chinese tea, hence I can't comment on that. But from what I have observed, the tea seems to be a staple in everyone's BKT meal.

Midnight Goodness!

Ya Hua Bak Kut Teh is probably the only place in Singapore you can have Bak Kut Teh in the middle of the night. You never know when the craving will strike you, but if it does after twelve midnight, you know where to go!

They have other dishes to go along with your BKT, which you can share with your friends. Also, as soon as you settle at your seat, they will serve you a complimentary bowl of You Tiao as well! Most of the time, each of us would order our own bowl of BKT as the servings run small, but it is definitely enough to satisfy as the soup is free-flow! We can easily have 3-4 bowls of the soup as it is really tasty. The soup is very flavourful, with a touch of peppery taste to it. I especially love the peppery taste of the soup, but it might not be for everyone.

The place is a hawker place, so ambience-wise it is nothing to be raved about. It is also not easy to locate though as it is located near Keppel Bay. If you are not familiar with the place, a GPS might help!
