You must try their chendol
Yesterday fate conspired, again, to mix work with pleasure by sending me to Changi Village. I happened to walk past this shop that called itself "Makan Melaka".
The sorry thing was I had already had a heavy lunch at my client's but then I walked past a huge tank full of chendol. That made me stop. Then I started to drool. I am a sucker for chendol.
There was a set of pictures showing all the different varieties of chendol that they serve but I opted for the simplest, Melaka styled chendol. That is simply chendol covered in ice, plus the mandatory coconut milk and gula melaka. Very simple but that is how I like it.
Taste wise, it was excellent. The chendol tasted a little eggy, but that was not a problem to me. The santan was slightly salty but the best thing was the gula melaka tasted great. Everything combined together created heaven in a bowl. Cost? $1.50
Next time I intend to visit again but this time I want to taste their "gulai ayam cili api" that smelt good but alas, my tummy was in no position to stomach.
I'll be back!
