Handmade noodles with a crunchy, springy texture!

Nestled in the Joo Chiat area is a coffeeshop that offers wanton mee with handmade noodles that have the QQ texture that many rave about. Given that stalls seldom offer the traditional handmade noodles anymore due to the hard work involved, Fei Fei Wanton Mee definitely stands out in that aspect.

When the noodles first came, I was disappointed as the bowl was small and looked barely enough to fill my stomach. However, I was appeased after the first bite. While their portions are rather small, each bite is packed with full flavour and the taste was very satisfying. This could be due to the lard they coat the noodles in. If you can take spiciness, do give their chilli a shot! It adds complexity to the otherwise simple dish. Within the same compound there is also a stall selling yong tau foo which was delicious, and filled up the rest of my stomach.

Both dishes are rather oily though, so beware if you are watching your waistline!
