The high quality will last you for years
Being at an International School, the amount of girls walking around wearing the same blingy Michael Kors watches became a bit of a school joke. It was the typical “I just turned 16 and along with another pony Mummy bought me this” kind of watch, and I always thought nothing of them, until I tried on a friend. I hated myself for loving it so much, but it was just so girly and sparkly that I instantly wanted one. However, when my birthday did come, I realised I would never wear a watch anyway, but kept Michael Kors in my head.
Going into their store, I instantly fell in love with almost everything in there. It all was so designed for young adults, none was too childish or too sensible, and I easily could have spun around with my eyes closed and landed on something that I would have liked. I finally went for a blue handbag with matching purse, the bag being big enough to hold even a laptop, and with both a hand and shoulder strap. Since getting both, I have used nothing else. The quality is impeccable, a year and a half on and neither have a single scratch, even though I use both almost every day.
Michael Kors isn’t cheap, hence why I only got their stuff for my 18th birthday, but if it something that you’d like, then know that it will last you years. Their designs are timeless so you’ll still love them just as much in the future, and if you like the watches, as even I do, then just get one. Who cares what others think.
New in town, this store that recently opened at Scotts Square would probably catch the eyes of many with its bright white interiors and clean cut look. The luxury international boutique by American fashion designer Michael Kors is foreign to people few and far beyond. Michael Kors is best known for designing jet-set, chic and luxurious sports wear and the designer himself is also a judge on the ongoing series 'project runway'. To its brand are also clothing, watches, bags and accessories collections.
The brand Michael Kors peaked a few years ago when designs were seen on celebrities like Jennifer Garner who wore the custom-creation of the designer during the Academy Awards 2006 where she was the presenter, and a sleek red dress on Supermodel Heidi Klum at the 2006 Emmy Awards. It has expanded its chain to many more countries, and since then has only been a growing influence in the luxury circle. Its classic pieces are simple and would hardly go out of fashion although it is a little too bright and 'bling' for my liking. The handbags carry a signature 'MK' logo, on the zippers or on the bags itself and the design of the watches are usually on metal and very eye-catching.
Personally I find the brand somewhat similar to Guess, as it is not too expensive for the range of products and the pricing is not as exorbitant as other luxury brands. However, the designs are not too much to my liking and I would usually find myself willing to pay a little more for something better. Although I have been and am still on a look-out for a certain Michael Kors watch, as the designs are really pretty and they seem to have the perfect combination of casual and formality. Unfortunately, many of the watch faces are pretty huge as they are fitted to the american size, and for the petite wrists of mine they just look perpetually over-sized and ready to fall off.
