A fusion eatery that serves both Asian & Western cuisines, Addictions is a cafe that serves you unique renditions of the typical mains you would find on an all-day breakfast menu for instance. With its home outlet residing at the grounds of Dempsey, Addictions has recently opened another outlet at Marina Square. Savouries, sweets, teas and a range of wines are found at this minimalistic cafe.

Meh

So, I was pretty excited to try this place out, because afterall you would think that a restaurant that has its roots grounded at Dempsey should be pretty good. We visited the outlet at Marina Square and it was pretty empty probably because it was a weekday night.

Anyway, I'd first like to talk about their impeccable service, because the staff there was really extremely attentive, and asked us whether we were ready to order a couple of times, and then checked back on us after our food was served to ask if everything was going great. And y'know what, their FOC iced water is actually water that was soaked with lemons and cherries and stuff. It turned out pinkish, which was pretty interesting if you ask me.

We were all fans of the brunch items, so we immediately zeroed in on them even though there were other sandwiches, pastas and other asian dishes as well. A pity their potato pancake was already sold out because we really wanted to try that after my friend said it was good! We settled with 2x Earl Grey Salmon Benedict with Citrus Hollandaise, served with mushrooms, as well as 2 of their Big Breakfasts.

I was actually super excited because I love Earl Grey accents, but the dish turned out to be lacklustre and totally unimpressive. The salmon & poached eggs felt almost tasteless and the citrus hollandaise felt like a waste of cholesterol (all the yolks, yo). The mushrooms were tasty and very well-seasoned, however, and I recall having a "I wish I ordered a plate of mushrooms instead" moment before scanning the menu to see if they served it on its own. It turns out that they do, so it's sauteed mushrooms for me if I ever do go back there. I don't see myself recommending this place for their breakfast mains, but I'd like to give their pasta a try though! The adjacent table having pastas seemed to enjoy it perfectly.
