Great place for a foot massage....
I have been enjoying foot massage with Wan Yang for almost 4 years already, as my wife bought packages with this "health spa" joint. Having enjoyed their services for that period of time (and with a few other foot reflexology spas)...I believe I am in a position to offer clear and objective view points.
What Wan Yang offers is no different from others... you lay down in the comfy lounge chair, have a magazine to read or just have a nap while your assigned foot masseur. It's a bonus if that staff is in sync with you, with the right fingers pressure and "conversational channel".
In short, an enjoyable foot therapy lies in getting all this factors in one place. And Wan Yang has managed to deliver this consistently. The decor (at Causeway Point branch) is clean and comfy, the receptionist is polite and obliging, and the staff is well trained. And a cup of warm water is always served at the end of every session.
A better experience would be to purchase a package (with no expiry date) so that it's relatively cheaper (I believe Wan Yang is a sound company and will not fold up overnight). And should you patronize the same branch regularly and build up sort of "familiarity" with the staff, it's more fun as it's like visiting old friends.
The only grouse is that your foot masseur is assigned on rotation basis and can't be requested for. It's only logistically prudent for the spa management to practice such arrangement. Otherwise, there might be a "queue" from patrons their favourite masseur.
So, do pamper yourself a little...a session at Wan Yang will do just that...
I signed up for a package deal for both shoulder and foot massage a few months ago. The package came with a few additional sessions and the best thing is there is no expiry date. There is no worry that what you paid for will be expired in a year's time.
Another good thing is that Wan Yang has many branches and mostly in shopping centres so it is quite easy to find a branch. The only thing to take note is that it is better to make an appointment before going because they are quite popular and even on a week day, you may not be able to get someone to massage you.
I normally go for shoulder and foot massage together. The whole session will take less than two hours.
Basic but perhaps too basic.
I followed my wife to the Tampines branch a few months back and immediately commented that it seemed like the budget terminal of foot reflexology centers. The branch was brightly lit, possibly to highlight that it is a "clean" massage place? In any case, I found the place sterile, simple, but too brightly lit and open to be relaxing. The chairs were basic and not too comfortable.
The massage techniques were basic and a bit painful as well. Perhaps it was due to my masseur having thin, bony fingers but even after asking him to ease the pressure, it was still a painful massage.
Perhaps a quick stop after a shopping spree but not a place I would return to if I wanted to relax.
