I'm a sausage fan. I eat sausages nearly everyday and I always hope there's more sausage kiosks around Singapore. So while in Sentosa, upon seeing Hot Dog King, I was elated.. but got disappointed at the end.
The hot dogs are overpriced but can't complain since it is in Sentosa after all. I asked for a hot dog bun without any sauce on it because I'm a picky eater and it tasted bland. Like, the hot dog buns my mum makes at home tastes better! And the server that served me didn't even smile!
We (my family and I) ate around the tables near the kiosk and the highlight of that time was a peacock strutting around the area and not the food itself. Which was a disgrace.
Mass Produced, Expensive Hot Dogs
Hot Dog King is a fast food kiosk / outlet in Sentosa, located just outside the Sentosa Underwater World Singapore. It is also, in my opinion, one of the worst places to purchase food and drink from in Sentosa.
The best thing Hot Dog King has going for it is ambience. Situated next to a well manicured garden, it also has free ranging peacock families roaming about, which will appeal to kids and the young at heart. Unfortunately, said peacocks have also been observed trying to steal food from diners in the area from time to time. If this does happen to you, my advise is to move away, instead of shooing them, in case they become aggressive (Which hasn't happened yet).
For a fast food kiosk / outlet, service at Hot Dog King is terribly slow. Even without a queue, expect to wait 5 minutes before receiving your order... And if there is a queue, expect to wait between 10 - 15 minutes! Another thing that gets my goat is the cumbersome sauce dispensers, which are often not full, and thus, spread the sauce very unevenly.
Food at Hot Dog King is the low quality, mass produced from the factory sort of food. This does mean that while it's edible, it's not exactly very tasty. Quality is similar to what you'll get from a movie theatre in Singapore, but at least you have air-conditioned comfort there. Prices, needless to say, are expensive. Yes, it is a tourist place, but the fact remains that the price of a hot dog and drink at Hot Dog King costs SGD $7. At Siloso Beach, the same order will cost you SGD $4. If you prefer the gourmet route, the same order as a complete meal with more toppings and sides at Imbiah Lookout costs SGD $12.
Ultimately, this makes Hot Dog King the most expensive place in Sentosa to puchase fast food. Avoid if possible.
