Singapore’s voice

Pink Dot is held annually with the intent promote acceptance of same-sex relationships in Singapore. Held in the Speaker's Corner in Hong Lim Park, the event promotes the freedom to love, in which members of the LGBT (lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transexuals) are encouraged to come in the open and rally for their right to love freely.

I personally support this cause as I believe in the freedom to love. If countries like America can accept it - as seen from San Francisco legalising same sex marriage, why can’t Singapore do so too? However, I understand that being a young nation of 50 years and a rather conservative Asian society, such acceptance may take some time.

I’m glad that Singaporeans are finding their voices and standing by what they believe in. While such efforts may prove futile in the short run, I’m positive it will bear fruit in the long run.
