Something different for Siglap residents
My recommendation for Werner's Oven must be qualified: I only strongly recommend their bakery, and not their restaurant. Don't get me wrong, their kitchen is OK, it's just that it's nothing to shout about.
However, I will give Werner's credit for being the only specialty German restaurant for miles around. Siglap folks can dine here if they want a change from local and Asian food. Their food seems pretty authentic to me, including all their sausages and the schnitzel, my personal fave. It's not unlike what you get in Bavaria.
The bakery though, is something else. You get all the healthy, rustic multigrain breads that Germany is known for. But I like best the sinful jam donuts, or Berliners as they are known in German. They are close to what I get in Germany, except the sugar melts a lot faster here!
