Do not come here expecting a slab of steak, because they do theirs a little differently from other steak places because theirs come sliced. Not that I mind. They only serve one type of main course: Steak with frites. I had mine medium rare and it was cooked very nicely. It came with a tangy sauce which I found a little too sour for my liking, but I guess this is really based on personal preferences, because some people I know really liked it. They come in two sizes - the $29.90 and the $39.90 portions. The smaller one was enough for me actually.
The appetisers were all right. We had the homemade duck foie gras terrine ($21) & the escargots ($16). I found the parsley butter for the escargots more sourish than herbish in taste. Personally, I'd have preferred more herbs.
Service-wise, it was great as well. We were served a rose wine upon being seated. The service staff were friendly and very attentive. One tip though. We were asked if we wanted sparkling or still water, so we chose the former. I've been warned about sneaky tactics like that before. We were charged $10 for a bottle of Evian, or what they called "still" water. So if you aren't willing to pay that kind of money like I did, remember to ask for tap water instead. Overall, I really liked it despite the slightly hefty price.
What could be better than Steak and Fries for dinner!!!
Decided to drop by because the place looked totally swanky and if steak and fries can be the ONLY dish served here, it should be delicious.
There is little space in the restaurant, we were too close to our table-neighbours for comfort. Eavesdropping was not difficult.
Anyway, we opened our menus and there you have it - only 1 item on the menu. It was quite amusing! So my boyfriend and I ordered 1 steak and frites (with amazing sauce) to be shared. Along with a glass of red each.
I forgot to mention, we were presented with a welcome drink too, something along the likes of red wine too!
When our dish was served, the waitress handed us 2 plates with steak and fries on each plate. We were quite shy to correct her and remind her that we only ordered 1 serving, but to our amazement she smiled, saying that they already halved our portion for us. Amazing service!
The fries were a sparkling golden, thin and nicely cut. The steak (medium rare) was accompanied with this mystery sauce (its their secret sauce) and was absolutely yummy. The wine went along really well with our food!
Left the restaurant feeling really pleased.
