Inspired by the colourful tapas bars found in Spain, Esquina provides visitors to the culturally-rich Chinatown with an added choice of European cuisine to the ethnic enclave. Open from Mondays to Saturdays, Esquina serves mainly modern Spanish tapas in a unique location that is surrounded by post-war colonial buildings, hip coffee joints and 'old school' home style restaurants. Leading the culinary direction for Esquina is Michelin star Chef Jason Atherton, the protégé of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.

Esquina, hands down, offers the best tapas in Singapore (that I've tasted at least!). I've tried heaps of tapas restaurants here and must say that Esquina never fails to impress. Their dishes are always delicately executed and each one has its own unique, exquisite taste. I particularly love their crispy baby squids with black ink aioli. They're bite sized & crispy, so one needn't worry about being caught gnawing away at a tentacle. I also loved the Seafood paella, which also conveniently came with more crispy baby squids!
Be sure to get to Esquina early (preferably when it's doors open!) as they don't take reservations and their bar seats are usually snapped up by 6:30 on a weekend.
