An icy time

For those with a tooth for all things icy, Bing Bian is the place for you. This is a place which makes you deeply acquainted with a fact of life: Life can be full of choices. Indeed, I did not realise until my visit that with simply a foundation of shaved ice, one can concoct multiple variations and permutations of desserts simply using toppings such as sauces, fruits and jelly.

One of the more well known desserts, the Durian Ice Set, is in my opinion, seriously worth a try. Concocted using premium D24 durians, the cream goes really well with the shaved ice and additional sauces. The initial feeling is one of 'Eureka!', as the rich, creamy flavour of durian explodes upon your first mouthful. For a durian fan like me, I felt as if I was in heaven. For an NSF like me whose lunch was not up to par with food outside, it feels like heaven Level 2 when you taste such wonderful food upon booking out. Other than the Durian Ice Set, the varieties of desserts available are, suffice to say, able to last me for months should I decide to have a different bowl of dessert each day with a new combination of ingredients each time.

Besides its signature ice desserts, Bing Bian also retails in other food such as Nasi Lemak. Hence, it can serve as an all in one destination for lunch, with your main meal following with a dessert. However, prices tend to be in the high side in this case.

In summary, my encounter with Bing Bian really felt like an affair (not as if I had a girlfriend or wife to begin with) and I felt really guilty about all the calories I've consumed (There goes my morning run) but really satisfied with life in general at the same time.
