The greatest thing about shopping here has got to be the how discounted prices are here. Apart from the already low prices, this place gives frequent discounts on various items. Of course, there's a catch: most of these items are approaching their expiry dates, so you've got to finish using the products quickly. I don't mean that they'll next week or tomorrow. Maybe they expire in a year, so you've only got 365 days to finish using that tub of cream or whatever. It's not as easy as it sounds!
Apart from this expiry date thing, the products here are not manufactured in the same countries as the ones sold in more reputable pharmacies like Watsons/Guardian, but I don't find that it makes much difference.
Service varies from outlet to outlet, but I generally find that the staff here is friendly and non-pushy, unlike some other value-for-money beauty product stores. They're also helpful and approachable.
I really LOVE Venus Beauty. If you always go to major retailers like Watsons/Guardian to stock up on your toiletries; boy have you been wasting a ton of your money! Of course, Venus Beauty only suits those who use the more common and cheaper brand of toiletries, like SunSilk, Feather etc. They also do sell some goods for the ladies - various types of cosmetics and feminine hygiene items.
The prices are way cheaper - prices can sometimes be almost half that of major retailers. Of course, with the low price; you can expect a lower standard of quality. Be sure to check before you buy; some items are made in Thailand/Malaysia/India which might not be of commercial quality; hence the cheaper prices.
Venus Beauty is often known as the "black market" of drugstores and supermarkets. I mean no disrespect by calling them the black market, but that's where you normally get the similar version of beauty products you love, at a cheaper price. Come on, who doesn't love cheaper prices and a good deal. But I do wonder where they got their products from, and whether it is from the same manufacturers as the ones sold in Watsons and NTUC.
Anyhow, even with such questions flying through my head, I still do purchase my skincare and beauty products from them. I get several of my makeup sponges there which are of good quality.
Highly recommend Venus Beauty to everyone wanting their beloved beauty products at a more affordable cost.
Cheap Hair Dyes
I always like to purchase my shampoos and body soaps from Venus Beauty as it is cheaper here than on supermarket shelves or other beauty stores.
However, I also discovered that they sell DIY hair-dyes for really affordable prices as well! In fact, I managed to snag two packs of Liese Foaming Bubble hair-dye at two packs for only $13.90 when the usually price of 1 box in Watsons is $17++! I weep for the number of times I’d purchased it from Watsons previously!! You can even buy hair bleach for only $4+ and do DIY crazy colours at home really easily! Shops which give great bargains are always greatly appreciated!
really cheap toiletries and household stuff
Without a doubt, Venus sells toiletries at prices that are much lower than Guardian, Watsons etc. Plus, they sell all sorts of products - hair creams, baby washes, oil blotters, toners, sunblock, deodorants, toothbrushes, products for both men and women. It's amazing, the amount of stuff they can fit into a small shop. (But at the same time it's usually really difficult to move about because the aisles are quite narrow.)
Besides toiletries, Venus also sells sponges, makeup and air fresheners. It is certainly a place to get daily necessities at a steal. If you are going overseas, Venus also offers travel size products at around $1.50. They carry a wide range of brands too! From renowned ones like Loreal to more obscure unknown ones.
Daily use products at awesome prices
Venus is a shop that I would visit once every month I must say. They have a wide range of products, from make up to skin care products, toiletries and even more. Although most of the outlets are quite small in size and very minimum walking space, they probably still have almost everything you need for daily usage. Not to mention everything you can get at other supermarkets or beauty stores but at the most affordable prices ever!
I do label this shop also as the shop that you should visit if you are traveling out of the country anytime soon. Small bottles of shampoo, body foam, hand cream, and everything you need for traveling, you can definitely find them in Venus.
Great place to get the same products at cheaper prices!
This has got to be one of my favorite places for my family, especially my mother. She always makes it a point to visit their outlets to get the family's beauty and hair products at much cheaper prices. Unfortunately they seem to have been closing down more and more of their outlets, making it increasingly difficult for us to get our products.
I like that they do sell a great variety of hair dyes, soaps and shampoos for us to choose from, and it's great that it's significantly cheaper than the other stores. We usually get a lot of things at one time and stock up before hitting up this place again to restock.
Cheaper than drugstore
Venus beauty sells similar cosmetic and toiletries that are typically found at drugstores (aka Watsons/ Guardian etc.) and supermarkets but at a lower price. As such, Venus beauty would be the place to be if you are on a tight budget.
However, what I notice about the packaging of products is that it is less pristine and sometimes it is even a little dusty. Their products seem to be older and less "fresh" as well if you base it on manufacturing date, however, they are still usable as they should not have passed their expiring date. The shop is often rather cluttered and I feel slightly claustrophobic so some points docked off for shopping experience.
I often patronize this store with my mom for toiletries items such as toothpaste, mouthwash, shower and shampoo products as well as feminine products. They also sell detergents, cosmetics, skincare (including sunscreen), hair products (including hair dye), shavers, eyelash curlers, makeup sponges, deodorants etc. You can basically find any toiletries products you need here at a lower price than Watsons, Guardian or even NTUC.
The 'discount' is usually $3-$5 (depending on what you buy) which is quite considerable if you stock up the toiletries in bulk, like maybe once a month or once every few months.
