Nivea boast a wide array of skincare products that ranges from deodorants to even shower gels. Catered for both men and women. Their products are frequently ridden off alcohol yet concocted specifically to conquer odours deriving from perspirations. Found at Singapore Watsons, NTUC Fairprice and Cold Storage. They're sometimes seen on the shelves at Guardian too. Nivea has yet to set up an officially independent outlet in Singapore.

Gentle, more tender care for skin

Compared to the other face products that I've used, Nivea is one that appeals to me as a range that is gentle and soft to your skin. Even after washing my face, it leaves a smooth layer over my skin since the soap is gently washing off only some of the facial oil.

This means two different things. On the more positive side, its taking better care of your skin with a gentler touch. On the negative side, its that the wash was not able to wash out all the potential dirt in the oil that was not washed out.

Being someone that loves to have a really clean face with no oil after a face wash, nivea isn't the brand for me. Though it may be a long term benefit, I like the feeling of clean skin in the now better.

So-so

Nivea products are pretty cheap and I would occasionally buy their body lotions. Their body lotions smell good, and my favourite is the one in dark blue which is the intensive lotion if I am not wrong.

However, now that I am suffering from very dry skin, the products are not good enough for me anymore. Even applying it every half an hour does not work for my very dry hands. I think I need a thicker cream for my hands.

Bourgeois

Nivea is the moisturising brand that everyone, or most people rather, go for most of the time in the Singapore drugstore context. It goes a long way back, which is probably why this is so. So when I was asking my mum for some tips, she immediately recommended Nivea.

And I have to say that Nivea does do the job. It definitely isn't a miracle worker though. I got the Intense Moisture Body Milk for night usage and the UV whitening serum for day use. Though they do only that much for moisturising, they do have amazing scents. I especially like mine for the UV whitening serum, which has a floral scent AND SPF 25 PA++. I don't really see much of the whitening effect, but the SPF and moisturising contents satiate me sufficiently for now ^_^

So yup! Go for the scent if you're more au natural with your nose :)

affordable but mediocre

The best thing about the Nivea range is it's wallet friendly prices and diverse range of products available. Having tried quite a few of their lotions though, I feel that their vaunted moisturizing properties are only so-so. While it may be a decent moisturizer for a humid place like Singapore, it is unlikely to be moisturizing enough for dryer climates overseas.

I've also used the lotion from their whitening range for a few months now, and it seems to work just like any other moisturizing lotion from the brand, with no noticeable brightening or whitening effect at all.

The fragrances of the lotions are mildly floral and pleasant, and is absorbed into the skin easily enough. Overall though, nothing remarkable or worth repurchasing for.

perfect for dry skin

I grew up watching my grandmother rub Nivea creme on my arms and legs and then proceeded on to rub creme on the soles of her mildly cracked feet. I was born with dry and sensitive skin which would cause my skin to flake dead skin cells when scratched during cold weather. Heavily moisturised, Nivea creme is the only brand that works for me. However, such a creamy lotion will cause me to perspire excessively during the day when it's hot and humid. It is best used at night after a shower; and before bed. This will keep your skin moisturised and hydrated throughout the cold night.

I have extended my use of Nivea line of products to their deodorants and lip balms over the past few years. I highly recommend their spray-on invisible black/white deodorant. It helps me a lot since my clothes are mostly dark coloured. The deodorant will not leave ugly stains on any of my clothes unlike other deodorants I have used in the past. I have yet to use their lip butter but I would save it until I have finished my current one.

All in all, Nivea is one of the best solution for anyone with dry and sensitive skin.

Quick Fix for Dry Skin

Nivea products have been around ever since I can remember so I’m sure everyone is pretty familiar with it as well! My mom was the one who first introduced me to Nivea as a moisturizing cream. She herself uses it every day!

I personally feel that most hand creams are the same, but Nivea offers one that is pretty much odourless and rich in texture. Although the cream is rather thick, it is easily absorbed and you do not feel like your skin is covered in a greasy layer. I will definitely try out their sunblock one day as well!

Works like a charm

Do you have cracked, dried lips when you travel overseas? Try Nivea. When I was in Europe for two weeks, all of my family's members lips were unaccustomed to the dry air of London. In a last ditch attempt to save our lips, we purchased the Nivea lips balms and they work almost immediately. I suggest applying a thick coat before you sleep and when you wake up, most of the excess will be gone and you're left with smooth lips!

However, if you're looking for something for more general use, I would actually suggest you try Vaseline. Just get a small travel sized tub and carry it along. You can use it for many purposes, from covering a mosquito bite (it works!) to using it as a temporary plaster over small cuts or scratches.

Multipurpose wonder - Nivea Creme

I’ve used Nivea products for as long as I can remember. I bought my first lip balm, hand cream and deodorant from this brand, and I can’t say that the quality is particularly good. Yes, it does its job, but there’s nothing remarkable about the products, and I’m sure better products are readily available.

When I was in Thailand last month, my skin became really dry and I was looking for a multipurpose cream to soothe it. I popped by the nearest 7-Eleven, and picked up a small tin of Nivea crème, hoping that it would do for the night, so that I could buy a better one the next day. After applying it on my arms and legs, I went to sleep.

When I woke up the next day, I was pleasantly surprised by how moisturized my skin felt. It was still a little dry, but its condition was much better. After returning to Singapore, I bought a big tin of Nivea creme, and I apply that every night now. If you’re looking for a multipurpose cream for your whole body, this is worth a shot!

Doesn't work.

I'm not really a fan of Nivea, having tried their deodorant and their creme. They're affordable, yes, but they don't work. At all. In my case.

Their deodorant was actually the main reason why I swore off deodorants for quite awhile.. it didn't work and I find myself sweating minutes after application! I had hoped their creme, which Rihanna apparently swears by, would work. It didn't. I don't exactly have dry skin, but my elbows and knees are really dry and the creme didn't help those problem areas at all. It also felt a bit too sticky-ish for me.

It's been more than two-three years since I brought anything from Nivea after these experiences I've had.

Say yes to softer smoother skin!

NIVEA is a rather good brand for skin care. I use their moisturizers and they do make my skin smoother and softer within days. Just remember to put them on regularly. Although on some occasions when i forget to put on moisturizer, my skin is still soft, which suggests the products have long-term effectiveness.

One thing about NIVEA, as with many beauty companies, is that there are far too many products serving the same purpose! I get confused as to exactly which moisturizer should i use and all that because there are so many to choose from.

For me, I tried out 2 different moisturizers from NIVEA and found the white circular can one to be more suited to my skin. So, my advice is to do as much research on the products as possible to find out which is best for your skin type. because they are not cheap considering that you have to buy them regularly. I never quite liked asking the staff helpers at Watsons. I feel like sometimes they are talking nonsense... >.<
