NARS blusher - pricey but gorgeous colour

With tan skin, it’s always tough to find the right shade of blush. Too pink and it looks fake, too orange and it looks like a tanning session gone wrong.

So imagine my euphoria when I found the perfect shade in the form of NARS’ ‘Orgasm’ blusher ($50). In a peachy pink with flecks of gold shimmer, a sweep of this across my cheeks immediately livened up my complexion. Suggestive name aside, the blusher came in a classy black packaging, so you’ll be proud to take it out of that makeup pouch and apply throughout the day.

Admittedly, the blusher is on the pricey side. But with its super blendable finish and a generous dose of colour upon a single application, I’ll say it’s worth every penny.

Something for everyone!

Nars has always been one of my favourite brands which should not be a surprise considering they have a wide selection of cosmetics and are even used on the runway. I love how their foundations come in 20 shades, ranging from Siberia (for the porcelain beauties) to Khartoum (the gorgeous dark skinned ladies). Siberia would be ideal for those of you who find the lightest shade in brands like MAC, Chanel, Dior, too dark! MAC’s lightest shade is NC15 (with the exception of the studio fix fluid). I would say Siberia is about NC10.

If you could only buy one product from Nars, I’d say go for the blushes! Admittedly, $50 is not cheap but these last ages and the quality of these are top notch! I recommend Deep Throat blush for everyone of all skin tones and for dark skinned ladies in particular, Gina and Mata Hari would look stunning on you!

Other products worth trying from Nars would be their velvet matte lip pencils, satin lip pencils and the radiant creamy concealer! I have the velvet matte lip pencil in Dragon Girl which is a gorgeous cool-toned red which makes your teeth whiter! I love how it is so easy to apply and it does not bleed or feather. It is not particularly drying but I have naturally dry lips so I always wear a lip balm prior to putting lipstick. I can foresee myself repurchasing Dragon Girl when I’m out of it.

The satin lip pencils are similar to the velvet matte pencils except they have a creamy, satin finish! They come in a wide variety of shades and are definitely worth checking out! However, the downside of the lip pencils would be that you have to sharpen them.

The radiant creamy concealer is loved by many, myself included. It gives medium to full coverage and is perfect for blemishes, redness, under eye circles… anything! A little goes a long way. Be careful not to overdo it under your eyes or it will crease.

Overall, Nars has something for everyone. Give them a try and you won't regret it!

woMEN come from Nars

I have been in search of a blusher which suits my olive skin; and is having a tough time finding a perfect one. I bought myself a Nars blush in Amour. Eversince then, it has been my go to makeup product for my daily face. It does no wrong in giving me the subtlest hint of blush, the same kind of blush I have when hearing their sexual names for their blush products.

I can use the same blush to transition from daily makeup to an evening one, just by applying either 2-3 layers or 5-6 layers respectively. Although it is a little too pricey compared to my previous blush product purchases from MAC.

I am still currently going through the same blush for a few months now, and it looks like it might last me for several more months. Definitely worth the price I paid for!

Prior to the brand setting foot here in Singapore, I've always resorted to paying exorbitant shipping fees for my NARS products to be shipped here. I am so delighted that NARS has decided to open a store here. I am a blush fiend and I collect NARS blushes. So far, I have about 10! They are of great quality and last long. Only thing I don't like would be the rubber packaging but that does not stop me from enjoying the product. If you are into bronzey-peachy look, go for Luster. For coral fiends, go for Torrid. For bronzey-rose look, choose Lovejoy. Intense colors like Taj Mahal and Exhibit A are very wearable actually. Just use a stipple brush. Their signature blush would be Orgasm and Deep Throat. Some might find the name offensive but I think it adds character to the brand! Better than codes like "NARS 0987" right? You can deny your attention gets caught by their names ;)

Bought 3 lip pencils today and I am LOVING it! Smooth, light weight and pigmented. So comfortable to wear. At $37 each, it is reasonable considering that it retails at USD$25. Blushes are $50 but they will last you literally forever. I have not hit pan on any of my NARS stuff yet. Their products are so lovely!! Looking to try their tinted moisturizer next!

(Updated: February 28, 2013)

Makeup lovers, rejoice! NARS has finally arrived on our sunny little island. I heard about this brand on YouTube a few years back but to my disappointment, it wasn’t available back then. I could only get it online or when I travel overseas.

But no need for the trouble now! Located at TANGS Beauty Hall, NARS has a huge range of products (if not, all). Of course, they have their “cult favourites”, which means all the highly raved products. Namely – Turkish Delight lipgloss, Dolce Vita lipstick and Orgasm blush. (Hahaha pardon the name, they do have naughty names for some of their products such as Orgasm and Deep Throat. Don’t take offense!)

Yesterday, I dropped by the counter and you know I could resist ANYTHING except temptation. So I got myself another lipgloss (damn it). Their prices may be on the higher end and some say you can find similar products from other brands but I believe their quality is worth the price.
