What a Splurge
I have only ever bought a bottle of perfume from Christian Dior's cosmetic and beauty collection. Maybe because I find that their makeup products are a little too expensive for my pocket and I will probably be able to find a cheaper alternative to them at Sephora.
Speaking of the only fragrance I ever bought from them, it was Envy Me by Dior. I was actually recommended that by my friend who thinks it suited me. Honestly, eventhough it smelled nice and probably suited me, it sure burned hole in my wallet. Let's just say it was packed lunches for me for a whole month because of that purchase. The scent was a mixture of floral and musk, which was an In thing then. Unlike other perfumes I've used, the fragrance did not evaporate as much, leaving you with the alluring scent for a long time.
Although expensive, Dior's cosmetic line will be something I might browse once in a blue moon to splurge on myself.
The amber diamond craze
I only own one product from CD and that is the amber diamond highlighter. I share a story with this highlighter. Upon hearing that it was going to be discontinued, I scrambled around and called up several counters and the counter at Taka told me they had a last piece. I rushed down and $69 dollars poorer later, I was a happy owner of the cult favorite, Amber Diamond.
It has its signature Dior cannage design embossed on the powder. I've used in for months now and the embossing is still strong! Doesn't seem like an overlay. The highlighter is divided into 4-5 sections. Ranging from a frosty golden white (like NARS Albatross) to a bronzey color. It gives my face a nice sheen! Makes my face look 3-D. I apply the bronzey highlight to my cheeks and the golden white to my nose. The shimmers are so fine that you won't notice shimmers but instead, a nice ethereal glow. If you want it, I think you can try calling the stores? There is also another version called the Pink Diamond, I would recommend that for cooler/fairer skin tones.
The allure of Dior started with my mother, whom I highly suspect has pledged loyalty to Dior products for life. I was influenced to use their foundation, eyeliners, eyebrow pencils, lipsticks, lip glosses, powder… the list does not have a foreseeable end. However, I am not complaining.
I swear by the Diorskin Forever Fluid Foundation — It controls oil well for my t-zone and lasts the entire day. Their lipsticks are pigmented (colours are vibrant) and I do like their eyebrow pencils as well. Overall, I am satisfied with the quality of the products and see myself re-purchasing from them in the future!
