My kind of heaven
If you love all things Japanese, this place might be your kind of heaven. Yamakawa Super stocks mainly foodstuffs imported from Japan. You can expect to find things like Pocky, packet ramen and udon, sake, ramune and many more!
I personally love coming here. Even when I’m broke, I get comforted just by holding a box of cute Hello Kitty biscuits and mentally listing all the things I would get on my next visit. As with most Japanese products, the items here are not cheap. For example, a (small) box of crackers could set you back $4 or slightly more. Which is why I come here only occasionally.
Nevertheless, I recommend this place for quality Japanese snacks and food for the whole family! No harm pampering yourself with Japanese goodies once in a while :)
You know how there is always that young child who enters a toy store for the first time and her eyes widen with excitement seeing rows after rows of toys? That was me at Yamakawa Super.
I have been to Japan before and enjoyed loads of their local yummy goodies. From chocolates to biscuits and to the specific lemon drink that I drank 4 years ago, I missed them all until I discovered the wonders that is Yamakawa Super. They offer a huge variety of Japanese sweets and other tasty treats - it's hard to resist splurging!
Their products are generally quite pricey, but that is to be expected from Japan-imported goods. Usually, I canvas the shop for a while before leaving without purchasing anything - that's the sad truth.
Big variety, happy customer.
Gosh, I just love this place to bits. Stepping in to this place is just like walking in to a food store in Japan. They stock up all sorts of Japanese chips, biscuits and sweets for the food fanatics like me.
The kitkats, caramel corn and the drinks come in many many flavors which we cannot find in normal Singapore food stores. And they taste out of this world.
One thing though is that the things are naturally expensive, 5 bucks to pay for a small packet of pretz etc. but in my opinion, I think that it is worth to buy if you really want to try the more exotic flavors. The ice cream are also Japanese imported, more delectable than the usual coloring rich ones in Singapore hypermarts.
