soft fluffy buns
Don’t just write Jie off as another toast and coffee joint like Ya Kun or Toastbox, it has less of a commercial feel to it and prides itself on making its own bread. The slicing machine is actually placed at one side of the shop so customers can even see the bread being sliced and packed in front of them.
They have both takeaways and dine-ins, but they’re equally happy to spread the buns for you if you’re doing a takeaway (at extra charge of course). They have the usual toast with a range of spreads (kaya, butter, peanut butter etc.) but my favourite is definitely the soft bun. It’s exactly what it’s called. A soft fluffy freshly baked bun.
To keep up with the competition, they have expanded their range of breads to include a raisin twist, cheese bread and a rainbow coloured sliced bread. They serve some local dishes like laksa and now also have a dessert counter though I have yet to try those out.
