A great cafe to hang out

TCC is a contemporary café that is seen mushrooming in Singapore especially the city area. Design in a chic and trendy setting, the café has been a favourite place to hang out among the youngster and working adults. It’s an ideal place to sit down for a discussion or a talk while you enjoy their specially brew coffee. They have a food menu with variety such as desserts, main course and tidbits, it’s a place where you could conveniently spend your afternoon away.

They have great variety with their hot and cold drinks, leaving you spoilt for choices. If you are unsure which drinks to choose, ask for the staff’s recommendation. My favourite would be Oreo Cookie Frappe, Lychee Jazz and Berry Glitzy. Their main course consists mainly of Italian and Western cuisine. They change their menu quite often, so do look out for the new items! Some recommendations are Mentaiko Spaghetti with Salmon Tataki, Seafood Aglio Olio, Chili Beef Soup and Shrooms Bite. They have a fair portion of serving to their main dish, hence it’s not too big for an individual serving.

The menu is the practically same for lunch and dinner. No advance reservation is taken by TCC but usually you are able to find seats at any hour.

Great Pasta and Coffee!

Great place to hang-out and have a good time of catching up with your friends or loved ones. I visit TCC every once in awhile, when I'm bored of Starbucks and Coffee Bean for my coffee fix. TCC sells surprisingly good coffee, some even with a mix of alcohol.

I'm quite the creature of habit so I order their Baby Crayfish pasta whenever I dine with them and I don't feel I'll ever get sick of it! It's tossed together with sauce that's of a salmon-shade, which reminds me of laksa. Haha! It doesn't taste anything like laksa though, but creamy and smooth.

It's sprinkled with wasabi fish roe so there's always a surprise in each bite!

I ventured out of my comfort zone and ordered their Seafood Aglio Olio once and it was not bad as well! A little too spicy for my liking though but extremely satisfying.

No love

TCC is everywhere today even though they can't really decide on their name. Now it's something concerto? Or was that for 2012?

So the ambience is kinda nice but the food and drinks are just very mediocre stuff. They are also charging quite a bit for such mediocre fare. I can't really describe very easily why i dislike their food. It looks delicious, but something is just terribly wrong. It feels like the entire meal is microwaved or that i will get a headache or i will feel really sick after eating them. I am not even sure why this is so. The drinks are really mediocre and once again they are pretty but they don't taste good at all.

I wil be at O' Coffee Club, Dome, Starbucks or even Mcdonald's anytime. I avoid TCC, always. Somehow the crowd here is also more Ah lian.(Ah lian means.. it's so hard to describe ah lian nowadays, there are so many versions. Inferior girls will be best) I cannot explain why either.

A pleasant veggie experience

Normally we as lovers of food pay very little heed to the vegetables that come as sides on a plate, with a lovely steak in mushroom sauce or a beautiful fish with cream sauce at the centre. So I decided one day to try out the food at TCC with a friend, at the Beach Centre branch since it is relatively quiet on a weekday.

Firstly, the service was nice and friendly. I was greeted with a smile, and given two menus. The ambience also had a wonderful feeling, and I just felt inspired and productive.

Secondly, the food and beverages were pretty good. My friend ordered a soup and a meat dish, we shared a salad, and I ordered a vegetarian dish. The first thing I noted, was that even though the pricing on the food was on the high side, the food was nothing like I have ever had before. Fresh salads with crisp taste, and a wonderful sauce to brighten up the dish. The mushroom soup had a stronger flavour that was better than many mushroom soups my friend or I have ever had. The dish he ordered which was white fish with yuzu sauce, it was moist and tender, and very much enjoyable. And the dish I ordered, the veggie shroom burger, was rather hearty despite it being a sandwich, as the portion was quite big. The iced coffee I had was also smooth and nice.

To conclude the experience, I would say it is a great place to enjoy some atmosphere and some really good food and drinks. While the products are certainly on the higher side, I think it is worth the price as I felt much care and thought was put into the dishes, even with the mini salads that came with the main dishes. And with such a comfortable ambience, I feel that the cost is quite justifiable. I also would add that vegetarians might love the place since a person like me, who normally eats meat dishes, could also deeply enjoy a vegetarian dish!

A+ for Aligo Olio

TCC offers my favourite aglio olio dish so it is one of my favourite chain establishments to pop by in from time to time. The small serving almost always dampens my spirits a little (who wouldn’t want more of the delectable dish?), but good things come with a price. At $20, the slightly spicy spaghetti always leaves me wanting for more.

The drink choices at TCC tempt even the most stubborn of coffee haters (aka me), but a few sips here and there could change one’s perceptions of coffee forever. Its 24-hour outlets make it an even more appealing option when it comes to chilling out at night.

Creepy Crawlie

We have promised not to say, but... I'm saying it here anyway.
Not telling you which branch, but my friends and I were at TCC for dinner after an outing. After ordering we chatted and took an video while we wait for the food. Then a friend saw "it". Creepy Crawlie was happily crawling in the cheese shaker. Ugh!
Called the waitress and of course she changed it for us. The manager came and asked if he can offer us anything for our shock. He suggested a free meal back at the restaurant, but all of us decide to leave.

A good hang out spot

TCC, oh where do I start? I simply adore going there be it with friends or on dates. I often find myself craving the food there. The meatball pasta is definitely good. I can taste the good quality meat used in the meatballs as compared to most places selling pasta. Also, the mozzarella cheesesticks with tomato based sauce is a must try! Lastly, I absolutely love the prawn with caviar on top. The prices there may be a little pricey for students, about $8 for appetizer but if you share with your friends I can assure you that it's worth your while.

Another thing that fulfils my requirement for a good hang out spot is that they allow students to study there for long periods of time. No more embarrassing experiences of getting thrown out of eating establishments!

I suggest that you bring all your friends to TCC not only for the good food but also the wonderful ambience.

Good food, good ambience

My family and I love going to TCC - they offer good food, good service, good quality ingredients and their cakes are needless to say, delish!

We first went there when my uncle brought us there with his TCC membership card, having 50% off everything on his birthday month. I was anticipating the dining experience from hearsay, and after that night, it proved to be not disappointing at all, and in fact, it exceeded my expectations!

Although I would not say that the food here is cheap, but it is definitely worth it. Restaurant quality food for restaurant pricing. The courses are artistically plated; not an eyesore, definitely not a tummy sore either.

I love starting with their appetizers of satisfying proportions (not too much to overload you before your main, not too little you would be upset), followed by a nice hearty main course (definitely satisfying both your palate and appetite), and ending the nice meal with a rich, decadent dessert!

Furthermore, the ambience there calls for praise (especially the one at Keppel Marina Bay), feeling high-class yet cosy!

Would come here again for the drinks rather than the food.

I usually only go to TCC for a drink. However, recently, a friend of mine wanted to give me a birthday treat and suggested having lunch at here, so we went ahead with that place.

Ordered a plate of spaghetti bolognaise for about $17, if I remember correctly. Taste wise was quite good, but the portion felt small for the amount I was paying, although it was just enough for me because I become full easily. They are rather generous with the sauce though. If I was paying for my own meal, I would feel really unsatisfied with my meal.

Did not have drinks that day, but based on past visits, the drinks are also pretty costly (roughly $9 odd?), although the glass size is bigger than Starbucks (though Starbucks is cheaper). However, some of their drinks could be pretty thick, such as their Nutella frappe, and I won't feel like finishing the drink because I'd feel full and tired of the taste. In my opinion, I would rather get a drink from Starbucks.

Would not return for meals next time. Just a drink once in a blue moon would be nice enough.

A classy rip-off!!

I visited to the TCC outlet at Bugis Junction, which was purely an impulsive decision. It was around 6pm on a Saturday and the place was about half-full.

The plush bright red sofa seats caught my eye and it felt so good to sink into them. When we got the menus, I raised an eyebrow at their prices, which I found to be a little on the steep side. Nevertheless, I decided to try their Cocoa L’amore cake, which is essentially a mousse cake decked with layers of dark chocolate and white chocolate. My partner ordered a slice of Royal Cassis - a cake white chocolate mousse cake.

Our orders took about ten minutes to arrive, and at a first glance, I knew that the cakes were not fresh. they looked hard and unappealing. Our first bites affirmed that the cakes had been left on display for a few days. We only finished the cakes because of the unreasonable high price we paid for them! In the end, we paid close to $20 for the whole horrid experience.

Awful name belies good frappés

I detest TCC's new name. I much prefer when it used to be called The Coffee Connoisseur, instead of the current The Connoisseur Concerto. It does a great injustice to the great coffee and desserts that they serve, which should be the focus.

In my opinion, TCC has better frappés than Starbucks; I guess the latter has more customers because of their marketing. But TCC's frappés are not as sweet and so easier to finish without feeling like you just downed an espresso cup of sugar syrup.

The downside of TCC is the pricing. Students like myself probably find it harder to pay $8 for a frappé, whereas I think Starbucks' start from $6.

I guess working adults who are particular about their coffee and frappés should give TCC a shot. It helps that the ambience is a bit more business-like than Starbucks - the chairs are all plush, as opposed to the wooden stools in Starbucks.
