The japanese casual wear franchise originated from Fast Retailing Co. Ltd, but restructured and separated in 2005. The brand, whose name is a contraction of "unique clothing" now has outlets worldwide. These includes stores in Hong Kong, Korea, and even in United States and United Kingdom.

affordable and quality apparels for every season
Uniqlo, a Japanese casual wear franchise, is a prominent brand worldwide for it’s smart technology incorporated into everyday wear. They offer a wide range of apparels from basics to smart casual, and even winter wear. What’s most impressive is their Heat Tech range for winter seasons.
I am a huge fan of Uniqlo for their winter clothing and basics. Not only are they extremely comfortable, they are reasonably priced too. I especially love their thermal wear because it keeps you warm in even the coldest weather. I remember being in Niseko where it was -11 degrees celsius and snowing, and I was kept exceptionally warm underneath, I didn’t have to worry about being cold. On days when my thermal wear is washing, I have to wear at least 2 layers more to make up for it, but I’ll still feel cold underneath.
Uniqlo is one of the better quality brands out there, they should bring more collaborations from Japan into Singapore!
Unexpectedly cheap shirts
I always remember Uniplo as the cool japanese brand that sells clothing technology more than clothing designs. Their shirts are never just a shirt, they will be made using some space-age material with incredible properties. For this reason I always thought their clothes would be out of my price range, but I was wrong.
My greatest find was their $7.90 basic cotton shirts. They come seal in a ziplock bag, but there are a few samples for you to try your size. You won’t find such a good deal at any other brand.
Comfy clothes without breaking the bank
Shopping at Uniqlo always puts a smile on my face. The apparels on sale are frequently updated, so it keeps customers returning to check for new outfits from time to time. The fabric used to make the t-shirts are of superior quality, and do not degrade just after a few washes. Colour fade is also very rare for the t-shirts because of a premium colouring technique. Not forgetting something which wraps up the pleasant shopping experience: Customer service. Uniqlo staff are always upbeat and ready to tend to customers in the store, which is a definite plus. Always love talking to them too!
One caveat though – Uniqlo tends to have big stores, so navigating for clothes can take awhile. A clearer subsection of clothes would do this problem a big help!
If you want comfy, trendy clothes at a friendly price tag, head down to Uniqlo. You wont be disappointed.
Simple, Striking, Comfortable Casual Clothes
Founded in 1984 in Naka-ku, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan, Uniqlo, which is a contraction for "Unique Clothing", is a Japanese casual wear retail franchise. Uniqlo is known for designing and producing their own range of clothing. Founder Tadashi Yanai has a simple philosophy; his clothing must be affordable for all, functional and durable enough for daily wear, simple to wash and clean, yet stylish and vibrant in design. This simple approach has made Uniqlo one of the world's biggest apparel brands.
Uniqlo casual wear clothing designs, whether for men or women, all have design elements that are best described as clean, simple, functional, and minimalist. They often have varying shades of bold, vibrant colours for each design, which makes Uniqlo stores seem like a rainbow of colours. Because Uniqlo casual wear clothing is so simple yet essential, it has an almost universal appeal, allowing customers to mix, match, and create their own styles with very little fuss.
Aimed at the mass market, casual or urban basics shoppers, Uniqlo manages to keep their clothing prices low due to large economies of scale, and control over the manufacturing chain. Furthermore, Uniqlo clothing is rather durable, easily lasting more than 1 year, and with proper care, perhaps more than 2 years. And with each piece (top / bottom) costing about SGD $25 or thereabouts, it's incredible value for money.
Uniqlo is also known for their innovative technology, and their willingness to change and challenge conventional wisdom. The most important technological breakthrough at Uniqlo is evident in their HeatTech clothing, which is made with proprietary heat-retaining polyester-and-nylon yarn. This synthetic material has air pockets between the treads, which help retain heat, and get rid of moisture. But Uniqlo isn't satisfied, and is continually innovating, either by creating new clothing technologies, or finding cheaper, more efficient ways of manufacturing that maintains the high quality the brand is known for.
I love the extensive range of vibrant designs at Uniqlo, which are fashionable yet comfortable enough to wear on a daily basis, as well as their wallet friendly prices. I also admire Tadashi Yanai approach to doing business, and how he's grown the company internationally.
Quality Clothes At Affordable Prices!
I am not afraid to admit that a large portion of my wardrobe consists of pieces from Uniqlo. I even remember queuing up for the opening of the first store in Singapore at Tampines 1 and I have been hooked on their clothes ever since.
With a wide range of clothes from basics such as plain t-shirts and socks, to their ever-changing seasonal collections, you will be spoilt for choice at any time of the year. I especially love their printed t-shirt collections that have a variety of designs from artists, celebrities and popular culture. I have pieces from the Keith Haring collection which I still wear on a regular basis. Nowadays, I only go to Uniqlo to get my jeans because they are comfortable, durable while not compromising on fit.
I have never had a bad shopping experience in Uniqlo because the staff I have encountered are helpful and their regular sales mean that you will get quality clothes at affordable prices.
Basics have been the longest occupants in my wardrobe simply because I haven't grew out of it, and I probably never will. I love basics for its versatility to match anything from floral to funky, and it'll always carry the certified clean and smart vibe I adore. Uniqlo is huge on basics like I am, and for that I've naturally became a walking wardrobe for them.
I love that despite being an imported brand, Uniqlo caters to Asian sizings and cutting pretty well. Not only that, they provide clothings for everyone and across gender, which makes it a good compromise for families going shopping!
Another attractive point would be the affordability they offer for their clothings. Less pinch for greater value! Two days back I visted the store and bagged a steal of 2 basic tees at only $7.90 each! I'm a person who would rather pay for quality than get something cheaper that lacks comfort and durability. Uniqlo stands out because it offers very decent quality for a pocket friendly price which is very hard to find in Singapore, where we pay so much taxes for imported goods.
The comfort of the apparels is another buying point that Uniqlo brands themself on. True enough, even the skinny jeans hugs so well it feels like tights that I could dance in! However, one thing to look out for would be to try on the apparel instead of blindly going with your usual sizing because it definitely differs considerably. For example the chino cropped jeans I bought was almost 2 size down from my usual, and I was informed that apparently it would shrink after wash, so do note to adjust your fit accordingly.
Clothings aside, I personally love the bright and organized layout to all of their outlets. It is indeed a trademark characteristic of the Japanese, but most importantly it evokes a kind of ambience that makes shopping so carefree that customers like me would return time after time, knowing how reliable this brand has grown to be.
If you're looking for something comfortable and long-lasting to wear, Uniqlo is the perfect place to visit. I always, before a holiday, visit Uniqlo to get some extra clothes that I know won't give in on me during my long vacations.
Uniqlo's designs range from simple to slightly elaborate. I've never seen something very striking in terms of fashion, yet they don't really cut that simple feel due to the wide array of clothing they have. In any case, if you have the eye for matching clothes, then this is nothing to worry about. I especially love their denim leggings. I find jeans really uncomfortable to wear since they're quite thick and always seem to be rough on the inside, so finding Uniqlo's denim leggings made me over the moon. Its material is smooth and your legs can actually breathe while still pulling off a partial 'skinny jeans' look.
Overall, Uniqlo's quality of clothes is probably its most attractive feature.
Uniqlo is one of the better shops for budget-conscious shoppers. It offers a wide range of clothes of different designs and types that will not tear a hole in your wallet. I liked the fact that most of the shirts sold there are plain and do not have any patterns printed on it. It is because of that that Uniqlo has become my favourite go-to place for everyday clothes.
However, I realised that the quality of their clothes aren’t constant and is in fact gradually decreasing. The first shirt I bought fit nicely after multiple wash, a sharp contrast to what the shirt they sell now. I’m not saying the shirt gets really loose after a while — it simply gets loose and makes the shirt appear older than it actually is.
I still visit Uniqlo, but only when the mall doesn't have H&M.
Paying For Quality
As a student, I would consider Uniqlo products to be straining on my wallet. However, after having the opportunity to buy a few pieces from them, I can say that what you pay is for quality products. I got a white long-sleeved shirt ($34.90) that manages to double up as both for work and for casual outings, a pair of denim dark blue jeans ($34.90) that fit well and for ladies, makes your buttocks look slimmer! The jeans are also cheaper than their Levi counterparts, so it is definitely recommended. The white long-sleeved shirt is a good fit at the shoulders and tapers inwards to flatter your waist.
I also love their t-shirts because of the great partnerships with other brands like Peanuts, and good unique designs. Uniqlo offers a wide variety of clothings, from t-shirts to shirts to jeans to leggings to socks. And if you're a mother, they also offer clothing for little tots!
One thing that amuses me the most is how the staff always shout "WELCOME TO UNIQLO!" and it never fails to put me in a happy mood as I see the casual yet efficient way the staff go about their duties. Conveniently located at many places like Somerset, Chinatown and Orchard, do not worry about having to go out of your way to visit.
Love their jeans!
I'm personally a huge fan of Uniqlo's jeans. Usually, I will buy the slim fit ones. Their jeans are really comfortable and long lasting, justifying the moderate price tag that you pay for them. Earlier this year, I bought my heat tech from them as well when I went over to the United States to do my student exchange. The heat tech was thin, comfortable but traps heat really well. I think if not for the heat tech i wouldn't have survived Minnesota's weather.
Uniqlo have outlets everywhere selling almost similar things. Their staff have been trained to say "Welcome to Uniqlo"; something everyone can identify with. I think it's hilarious but it certainly makes the environment more cheerful. Uniqlo uses good quality materials for their products, I would recommend this brand for anyone looking for casual wear or even winter clothes.
