Tze char style restaurant
Joao Heng serves one of the better tze char style food in Singapore. Their steamed fish is very fresh and their pork ribs are very tender yet flavourful at the same time. I have also tried their special, not on menu items like the sharks fin omelette. It was surprisingly very tasty and the eggs were soft and fluffy like scrambled eggs. That dish alone costed us nearly $60 and it's not something we'd order every time.
My favourite has to be their prawn paste chicken. It is hard to go wrong with prawn paste chicken but it is also not easy to make your prawn paste chicken stand out from the other restaurants and eateries. At Joo Heng, their prawn paste chicken is really crispy and the meat is juicy and tender at the same time. It doesn't feel too oily though we all know that prawn paste chicken requires deep frying in huge amounts of oil.
I have been to Joo Heng many times and it is one of my family's favourite place to have tze char. Price wise, they are as reasonable as most coffee shops tze char, only that it is air conditioned, away from the heat however, I recommend going after 8pm on weekends especially as the waiting time during peak hours can be pretty long.
