Al fresco tze char!
There's definitely an ambience here to talk about at Bottle Tree. I like that it is located in a rustic area with no retail shops nearby, making it quite a perfect place for family to really sit, eat and bond without anyone wanting to sneak away for a quick shopping. With the ponds for prawn-ing, a small shallow stream for kids to catch little fishes and another bigger pond for patrons to paddle ride swan boats, it adds a whole lot of entertainment for all ages.
We prefer the indoors dining area but sometimes the waiters shouting across the restaurant for orders makes dining a little unbearable, albeit interesting at times. On days of good weather, we like to dine at the outdoor tables, minus the unwanted mosquitoes lingering around. So depending on your preference, make sure to choose your table (if available) wisely.
Not enough prawns
I went bottle tree to prawn with my family. As with most of my prawning experiences, we didn't catch enough prawns to fill our stomachs. That's probably one of the reasons Bottle Tree Park Seafood Restaurant is there! As we walked around to enjoy the breeze, we decided to fill up our stomachs by eating the seafood restaurant and also chill there was the atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. The waitor was extremely friendly and chatted with us a little. We order half a dozen of beer, a plate of buffalo wings, some fries and yes, even a plate of prawns because my family of 5 only managed to catch 8 prawns! We had to comfort ourselves by ordering prawns caught by others.
We relaxed and chilled there for about an hour enjoying the view of the pond and people fishing. The bill came up to be almost a hundred without any main course but just sides and beer! Their food was good but not very fantastic to cost that much. Oh wells, we enjoyed ourselves overall.
Rustic surrounding with reasonable price
Bottle Tree Park was what drew me to this place, I went to check out the extraordinary park and found the spacious dinning place to be integral part of the park. Took a walk at the beach and the little swing area with my toddler. My mobile network showed I was roaming! I do feel like I am away from the bustling urban life. Nice place to chill out but be careful with the roaming charges.
The seafood menu was good, has my favorite prawn roll with sweet sauce and my hubby's favorite Tom Yum soup that is not too spicy. The crabs and fish were fresh and in good size. The service crew were not too patient on that busy night with my deliberative hubby.
However the bill size saved the experience, I was expecting to pay about $120 or more for the meal but it was less than $100. Money well spent for the spread and quantity.
I was first introduced to the Bottle Tree Park restaurant by my friend who felt that it was a unique place with good ambiance. We took a long while to get there because we got lost halfway. But when we reached there, the journey was truly worth it.
We ordered quite a variety of food but I could still remember two of the dishes vividly – scallop fried rice and tom yam soup. All the food tasted pretty delicious and we finished them all except for the scallop fried rice, not because it wasn’t nice but because their serving was really big! As for the tom yam soup, it was spicy enough to my liking and the portion of seafood in it was generous as well.
After the dinner, you can also explore other parts of the bottle tree park. Although it was pretty dark after our dinner, it does not cover the beauty of the place. I love the ambiance of the whole set up. The playgrounds, pedaling swans and many other interesting structures all gave an out-of-Singapore feel, away from the busy and fast-paced lifestyles. It was truly a unique Singapore experience.
Definitely family friendly restaurant
When you bring young children out for dinner, there is always the time after they finish their food and waiting for you to finish your food. Most parents will then give their children tablets to let them play some games or watch some cartoons.
My wife is very against this so we prefer to let the children go out to run a bit on their own after they finish their food. This restaurant offers a lot of space for young children to play after they finish their food. There is a pond where you can take the swan boat. There is also the playground.
It should be safe enough to let children run around a bit on their own in Singapore especially the whole compound seems to belong to the restaurant.
A rare, remaining remnant of the kampong past.
There's really not much by way of scenery, unlike what some reviewers have strangely noted, but it's a small, cosy place that, depending on what time of the day (and week) you're there, might be quiet and not so crowded. So if you want to chill somewhere peaceful and get away from the city or marketplace crowd, Bottle Tree Park is one place to go. It's also perfect for stopping by if you're cycling long distances to or from Yishun or Khatib, and a nice place to beguile your time in idle chatter with your close friends. There's also a swing there and swings are rare in rapidly developing Singapore nowadays, where sandy playgrounds (which is where most swings used to be) are fast disappearing. But the swing at Bottle Tree Park is the wooden bench sort that provides ample room for at least a few asses (I don't mean donkeys), so that you and your friends can all squeeze into that single bench and rock yourselves gently back and forth as if you're grandmothers sharing your pasts with each other. Of course, we were a little worried back then that the chains will snap under the combined weight of three asses so we made sure not to move too much and too forcefully.
If there's some special place in the Yishun/Khatib area, I would say Bottle Tree Park is one of them. So be sure to go there at least once!
What better place to have a seafood dinner than beside a beautiful lake? Bottle tree is located between Yio Chu Kang and Khatib mrt station but the walk from either stations is really far so you have to take a bus there. The food is rather pleasant but I think that the scenery makes the whole dining experience truly amazing. Bottle tree is surrounded by trees and there's not a building in sight. The environment is very fresh and relaxing and it is a great place to unwind and just relax. However, the cost of the meal is not very cheap so if you are a big saver like me, you may just want to make it a once in a blue moon experience
Good Food and Enjoyable Place for Everyone!
I first visited Bottle Tree park with my friend out of curiosity as I always see the place when I'm riding the MRT. We walked from Khatib MRT station to the park.
The place got a lot of activities to offer where people from all ages can enjoy and relax. These include fishing, prawning, boating, playing in the see-saw and more.
The food was also good! We ordered their Chili Crab with mantou (Yummy!!!), Kailan with garlic, roasted chicken (also tasty!), buttercream prawn, rice and fresh coconut juice. After that satisfying dinner, we started recommending the place to our friends and they liked it!
The food may be a bit expensive but it's worth it. Just don't forget to put some mosquito repellent before you go there, especially at night.
Bottletree restaurant is the whole package, not only is the food good, the ambience is better. The landscape of the restaurant is very picturesque and it gives the impression of being away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The place is perfect for a huge family get together as the whole set up is very comfortable to sit down and chit chat while enjoying a sumptuous meal. Moreover, my nephew enjoyed running around as there was some open spaces and interesting fixtures.
However, the restaurant is slightly inaccessible as I live far away from the location of the restaurant.
Banana scallop is definitely a MUST TRY. I was worried that it'll slipped my mind, so I immediately wrote it down.
Anyway, one thing for sure, Bottle Tree Park Seafood Restaurant is an interesting place, but it's very expensive to dine there. A typical meal set for 4 person can cost up to S$130. The dishes are ordinary, nothing spectacular about them, You see them at a typical restaurant, food court etc... Tofu in Minced Meat Sauce, Sour & Spicy Garoupa and Sea Cucumber Stock. See what I mean? Despite that there's no service charge, I still find it too expensive for my liking. Going there once is enough.
Of all dishes I've had, the banana scallop stands out. It was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. In a word: mouth-watering. The Korea Style Golden Cereal Prawn was pretty tasty. Only issue was that I was incredibly thirsty after eating them.
The service deserves an applaud. The waiter was very knowledgeable as he introduced the restaurant's specialties without any difficulty. He was the reason why we ordered the banana scallops.
Food arrived within 15-20 minutes. Judging by the crowd at that time, i would say service was reasonably fast. Most importantly, dishes were piping hot and they looked very appealing.
This is a good place for kids as there's a playground and prawning and fishing stations. It's also a quiet and soothing place for chatting sessions.
