Refurbished but same great food...and same grumpy boss...

To those in know...this is the new Qun Zhong Eating House...reopened in Feb 2012 after practically a year hiatus. During the pre-renovation days, this little eatery always have a ready queue...be it lunch or dinner. The only day when it's quiet is Wednesday, when it's closed.

Post renovation -Qun Zhong has become a double unit diner and now is able to accommodate more "hungry, hungry hippos". Yes, the queue is still there (maybe even longer) but somehow, waiting was a breeze as we got our table after 5-10 minutes (can be as long as 30min-45min in the past). The decor is decidedly simple but chic in a way. There more staff and even wore uniform. And thankfully, the menu remains true to us loyal fans...in a nutshell, the dining experience is much better.

When my Russian friend is in town, he always make it point to dine here, as he simply loved the signature xiao long baos..and the spicy chilli paste with it's accompanying vinegar with thinly sliced ginger. And of course, osmanthus arboling soup and quo tia, etc. are a must-have.

And one thing regulars will not forget...yes ! The grumpy old boss is still the same, still grumpy ! almost like a trademark of the eatery... LOL (and don't bother to tip, it won't bring a smile to him) But the food is the piece de resistance that always keeps me coming back.....
