Qool Weekend Staycation
Unless you're putting up in a 5-star hotel suite, it is unlikely to find hotel rooms that are spacious. But if there's one way a room can compensate for its size, it's furnishing. Quincy Hotel has aced that aspect by creating a lovely, clean environment which exceeded all my expectations, even with its space constraints.
My stay in the hotel was comfortable and relaxing. All-day refreshments (courtesy of Dean & Deluca) at the lobby restaurant meant that I could pop by anytime I get hungry from watching too much cable TV in the comfort of soft, white sheets. There's a small infinity pool beside the gymnasium. Granted, the view all that fabulous but the pool opens 24 hours a day!
The hotel can be quite a chore to access as it is an uphill walk behind Mount Elizabeth Hospital. BUT its location is superb for that price. And since most people should be fitter than me, I think there's not much for me to fuss about.
A Really Qool Weekend Staycation at Quincy Hotel
Last weekend, we drove to Quincy Hotel for a staycation to celebrate my husband’s birthday as a yearly tradition. Quincy Hotel has won the accolade of being Singapore’s best luxury boutique hotel by the World Luxury Hotel Awards in 2012 as well as Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award from 2011-2014. Located in a quiet neighbourhood at Mount Elizabeth, it is a 10-15 minutes walk to Orchard road. While we enjoyed the walk up and down the slope (behind Far East Plaza) as we were not in a hurry, some people may find the distance a little daunting.
The lobby is pretty small but the design is stylish, modern and contemporary. Quincy Hotel is a boutique hotel after all and you can’t compare it to the scale of a luxury hotel. The hotel has also generously provided toiletries from Molton Brown – an upmarket bath, body and beauty connoisseur from London.
Let's see...with the Qool weekend package, we have a complimentary red wine and in-room mini bar, late checkout at 3 pm (subject to availability), Art Jam or Cup Cake baing session, free wifi, all day refreshments, evening cocktails, canapes and buffet breakfast for 2. We also went for a outdoor movie screening by the poolside at night and went for a complimentary city tour the next day.
We felt that Quincy Hotel really deserves its title as one of Singapore’s best boutique hotel as the Quincy team was sincere, hospitable and spared no effort to make our stay a delightful one. The Quincy team also surprise my husband with a tiramisu cake and took a Polaroid photo for us to capture the moment. We thoroughly enjoyed the fun-filled activities, whole-day refreshments and buffet spread planned for us.
great service, rather inconvenient location
To be honest, I didn’t enjoy my stay in the hotel. Despite the fact that the hotel was located in Orchard, you’d still have to walk quite a long uphill distance from Paragon. I found myself getting annoyed and frustrated at how far it was from the mall, especially since I just spent the whole day out and was dying to get to my room.
However, the service was excellent. I needed a travel adapter and was immediately sent one seconds after I called the front desk for help. The room was also spacious. I had five friends over and everybody was able to sit down without feeling cramped.
The bathroom was weird though. A transparent glass separates the shower area, making your naked self visible to the people in the room when you are bathing. However, drawing the curtain would solve this problem. I thought it was a weird unnecessary feature of the room, especially since the room was a double-bed one.
Lovely boutique hotel
Booked one night this weekend because I needed a place to crash after a friend's wedding at Hyatt.
Check-in was very smooth and the guy at the reception attended to me efficiently. This is an all-inclusive hotel so meals at the restaurant and cocktail drinks in the evening were complimentary, but do get the hotel staff to explain how this works because it is slightly complicated with the timings.
Room was very beautiful, especially the toilets which were just immaculate. There is a rain shower and a big bath tub for you to choose from. Molten Brown amenities were provided so that was quite a lovely touch. The mini bar was stocked with many drinks and snacks which were also complimentary.
The pool and gym area was very beautiful as well, which included a steam room and a sauna. It was a pity I couldn't enjoy my pool experience to the fullest as it was pouring heavily and I swam in the freezing water. The area is open 24 hours, so it's a good place to chill out if you want some peace and serenity after midnight.
Overall, it's a very memorable hotel stay in Singapore and as a local, I would definitely be coming back.
Homey and a great staycation spot
This boutique hotel is not extraordinarily fantastic, however, it is one of the most cosy and comfortable hotel I have stayed in Singapore. The service is great, with the staff being friendly and accomodating.
Although the rooms are relatively small, the layout does not make the guests feel cramped up nor stuffy.
The swimming pool is the most remarkable amenity of the hotel in my opinion. Situated on the 12th floor, with a clear view of the outskirts of Orchard road, I stayed in the pool for almost an hour just admiring the scenery. Word of warning though, the water in the pool seems to be cold regardless in the day or night. There is also a small see-through patch on the pool floor (pretty scary for someone with a fear of heights).
The location of this hotel is suitable for those who want a quiet getaway yet still want to be accessible to prime locations. Far East Plaza is a 5-minutes walk away (walk through York Hotel & Goodwood Park Hotel).
I would come back here for a staycation again if I have the chance to.
I had a local getaway at The Quincy Hotel sometime back, and it was an extremely pleasant stay. Well, I'm not going as far as to claim that it is the best hotel in Singapore, but it is definitely one of the best around here.
I believed it was awarded a hospitality award not too long ago, and it deserved it. The service there was nothing but excellent. The staff there was helpful without being patronising, and were willing to plan a local excursion for you if requested (I acted as a tourist). Their studio rooms were large enough, with a King sized bed and clean fabrics. It is a hotel catered towards business travellers, and the room shows.
Book it through the Quincy Website directly!
Book it through the Quincy website directly to have all 3 meals provided by the hotel! I booked it through the Agoda website and only had complimentary breakfast.
The location of the hotel is fantastic since it is a short walk (max 5 min) to Paragon. Service was extraordinary and deserves a 5 as the service staff explained to us why we did not have the complimentary meals and also provided us a surprise dessert as we were celebrating our anniversary! Very thoughful of the staff to add a card and made our stay more memorable!
A disappointing point is that the room is a little small but I guess it's common for hotel rooms to be smaller in Singapore. Overall a great stay and I highly recommend it for couples. Loved the pool too!
Awesome local getaway!
My girlfriend and I decided to stay at this hotel for a weekend getaway from work. Quincy Hotel was having a promotion for a couple stay with free breakfast and we decided to check it out. Everything about this hotel is cool and stylish. The hotel lobby is small. It house their cafe and the check-in booth. The decor is simple yet classy.
When we saw our room, it was definitely good for us as it had a view of Scotts Road. They had the usual amenities that a room should have. We decided to check out the hotel facilities. They have a gym with new equipment that looked untouched. Beside the gym is the infinity pool and deck chairs for you to chill.
One bad thing about the room was that you cannot adjust the temperature of the air-conditioning and that was quite bad. Other than that, breakfast at the cafe was pretty normal. It is worth a stay if you are looking for a weekend getaway in Singapore.
