When my boyfriend treated me to a stay-cation in Singapore for my birthday, I didn’t expect how amazing Naumi would turn out to be. Blindly as a Westerner I thought MBS was obviously the best hotel around and that's that, however everything within Naumi both impressed and delighted me. My personal favourite touch was the slightly sexual, possibly inappropriate innuendos on labels for features around the room, such as “turn me on” for the light switches. This isn’t your usual run of the mill commercialised hotel. On another note, what’s not to love about being able to turn the frosted glass in the bathroom on and off with a switch and surprising your partner on the toilet; true romance/comedy at its finest.
In all seriousness the rooms were stunning and of such high quality, room service and staff were perfect and you can even borrow DVDs and a Wii for your room. The real winning point however was what could be found on the roof where you can find a bar, exotic looking sun loungers, and a stunning infinity pool overlooking the city. Although pleasant during the day, at night it was something else, and unlike Marina Bay you didn’t have to avoid Tumblr picture seekers trying to get their perfect picture. We were able to enjoy a late night swim all by ourselves with ridiculously strong cocktails waiting for us afterwards, which strangely made me love the hotel much more. Odd.
Every day there is a happy hour, breakfast was on a whole new level, and I even had a member of staff recommending Kaya jam to me. I willingly ate green stuff on my toast just because I trusted the people at this hotel so much, and turns out they were right again. The list of good things about Naumi could go on forever, the only possible downside I could think of is that the room was a little small, but it was so cleverly furnished that the size did not matter at all. Boutique hotel gold
Naumi hotel dominates the Singapore boutique hotel scene for good reason. If their mounting pile of awards and accolades do nothing to sway you, I'd recommend that you just visit their website and browse through pictures of their rooms. The beautifully crafted and artistically architectural rooms are truly deserving of top spots in interior design magazines. When I first stepped in, I was blown away by how elegant everything was. From the dim, romantic lighting to the luxurious toiletries in the bathroom, it was clear that everything had been thought out by the designers. The bed was huge and extremely comfortable, it had many soft, plush pillows for an amazing night's rest.
For those looking for an idyllic and peaceful staycation in Singapore, Naumi should be one of your top choices. Its location is further removed from the city centre as compared to hotels smack right i the middle of orchard road, but it is near enough to everything you could possibly need. While I did not personally get a chance to visit the infinity pool in the hotel (yes! Take that, MBS), I heard it is divine. Another bonus is that they allow you to rent wii console sets, so you will never have a moment of boredom!
The price point for Naumi hotel is rather steep, but it's an experience which is luxurious, romantic and definitely memorable. Everything in Naumi is what a boutique hotel should be. They provide everything you need for a blissful stay, yet retain a touch of special exclusivity.
Naumi says.. Come away with me.
You bet I will!
Having arrived at Naumi's doorsteps slightly earlier than the usual check-in time, I was delighted when Naumi made arrangements to accomodate my early arrival. What made this staycation memorable was the Naumi personalised touch to everything - from arrival till the moment we checked out.
What impressed me was the effort Naumi puts in to ensure every guest gets the utmost personal treatment. Guests checking in that day were personally informed by Naumi's manager that the lifts to the rooms were under maintanence. He sincerely apologised to me for the bumpy start of my staycation, and suggested if I was alright taking the stairs, he could assign a friendly personnel to escort me to my room. Otherwise, he would make some other arrangements for me to hang around the hotel lobby bar until the technicians managed to get 1 of the 2 lifts back in service. Told him I didn't mind taking the stairs, and immediately he proceeded to walk me to the stairwell, and "handed" me over to my "escort".
Upon settling in, the friendly personnel asked if she could show me around my room. Funny, you'd think, but here's why: Naumi's Habitat room itself isn't large but her clever usage of space and hidden drawers were simply intriguing. After the little briefing session with the personnel, I actually spent some time role-playing as Indiana Jones, exploring and discovering what's behind this and what's in that.
Not only that, whilst I was cracking my head on where we could go hang out after dinner, I was ecstatic to find out that Naumi allows guest to loan either an Xbox 360 or Wii gaming console or rent DVDs on a complimentary basis as backup wet weather plans! We now have more reason to stay in our room. Literally awesome.
We also headed up to Naumi's Infinity pool situated on the highest storey. It was a perfect spot to relax under the sun, with a perfect view of the city. A little shame that heavy construction works were on-going around the area though. We decided to give up chilling by the pool as it got really noisy, and headed back into our room to play Wii instead.
Overall, Naumi had really delivered what she promised - to be a personal luxury hotel. We are definitely coming back for a second round, hopefully the nearby construction works would have been completed by then.
For a truly unique hotel experience
Naumi Hotel remains one of my favorite hotels because of it's Boutique concept. Having a small number of rooms allows focus on the quality of customer service. For example, after check in, the receptionist will actually take you upstairs to show you around your room.
There's a good reason for this because Naumi's rooms are quite big, with plenty of features. For one thing, there's a full sized refrigerator, and a microwave. Of note as well, is the Nescafe Coffee machine, so that should be a definite hit with coffee-lovers.
The hotel is located about 10 minutes away from Raffles Place shopping centre/City Hall MRT, making it a relatively central location, which means shopping is a non-issue.
It should be noted that the hotel does demand a premium in terms of price of rooms, but in my opinion, the quality of the rooms, and the service more than justifies this higher price.
