Wala Wala, as it is colloquially referred to, is the iconoclastic bar in Holland Village. Come tuck into a wide range of hearty food offerings, which includes signature pizzas and fabulous buffalo wings. the laid back and homegrown vibe here is infectious. Chill out, let your hair down and enjoy your drinks without having to worry about your dress code of proper decorum. Come early to get seats but don't be surprised if you end up on your fee, singing along as some of the best local musicians rock out on the Wala Wala stage.

Ushering in the New Year at Wala Wala
I came here on New Year’s Eve with friends for drinks. Although Wala Wala is known for its live music, we opted for quieter seating at the bar’s first level.
Though our drinks only came after 10-15 minutes, I was satisfied with the service provided. The staff were friendly and courteous, and waited patiently for us to decide on our orders. Later in the night, they went around distributing complimentary party packs for patrons to celebrate the New Year.
To soak up the alcohol, we ordered the Spicy Blacken Wings ($14), which were a little too peppery for my liking. The Truffle Fries ($8) were standard fare, but they paired nicely with the beer. Overall, Wala Wala Cafe Bar is a good place to come for drinks with friends, or just to unwind after a long day.
Nothing but good things
You can always count on Wala Wala for good music. The crowded is slightly older than the folks you meet at Timbre, but at the end of the day we're all there for the great sound you can only get with live music.
I'm usually there on Wednesdays or Thursdays cause the music is fantastic on both nights and the bands more than willing to take up your requests. The air-conditioned place also makes the whole atmosphere much more comfortable and the drinks are decent.
I'm very very happy to say Wala Wala actually offers Southern Comfort! My suggestion: Have mexican food next door and pop by for some late night music.
If you're looking for a place to simply sit and chill with your friends, and to grab a few drinks, Wala Wala is great. If you want some music, there's a live band that plays some favorite or popular hits on the second level. It's the perfect place to unwind.
However, if you're looking for a quieter environment with your friends, it's best to stay on the first level, because the music does tend to get pretty loud later into the night when the crowd gets livelier. I had to shout over the music for my friend to hear what I was saying. But if you just wanna enjoy the music and bum around or down some liquor, it can get fun, especially with the normally spontaneous crowd there.
Food was okay, not amazing, but its pretty decent. They do have a variety beers as well which is kinda awesome. The service was not too bad, but nothing to boast about.
The highlight of any night in Holland Village
As you can tell from the tile of this review, I am quite fond of this place. With a great atmosphere, great food, interesting crowd and even more interesting live music, this has become one of my favorite watering holes. Although it is probably more known for its live acts, I do find the pizza and chicken wings here to be a real standout. But that is not to take away any credit from the great local music available on most nights.
I do have a small complain about the place and I hope the people behind the pub hear me out on this. During the many times I was at the level 2 live music bar, I find the volume of music a tad too loud for the small and enclosed area. I am not saying this because I don't like loud noises; I just feel that a pub should be a place where it is still possible for conversation to take place among friends.
That aside, I'd highly recommend those looking for a great night at Holland Village to head down here.
Iconic bar at Holland V
An iconic bar at Holland Village that has a group of loyal supporters and I'm one of them. You can choose to sit downstairs if you like a quieter environment to chat with your friends or go upstairs if you are in the mood for live music. They have different bands on different days and are mostly packed on friday and weekends.
Normally I'll sit downstairs for food and drinks. Their food are not too bad and wouldn't go too wrong for any of the food you ordered. I've tried their pizza, spaghetti, chicken wings and finger food.
One thing worth mentioning is the wide selection of beers to choose from. Ideal for beer lovers like me! They also have happy hour promotion provided you are early.
The waiters are friendly and helpful even when it is crowded. You can always ask them for recommendations.
Good Music, Ok Food, Ok Service.
Wala Wala is a great place to hang out on a Friday night, to relax and listen to some good live music. When I went there, the place was packed and there was a buzz in the atmosphere. The crowd got even livelier when the band started playing their set. The band took requests too, which was great. The best song they played would probably have to be 'The trooper' by Iron Maiden, which really got the crowd going.
The food at Wala Wala is ok; but I didn't try much of the menu, we mostly had chips and wings. They have a really extensive beer menu though, so if you enjoy your beers, it's a great place to go! I even tried some beer supposedly brewed by Belgian monks and it was fantastic (the name eludes me though). The service there was ok for me, the staff on hand was pretty responsive in filling up our beers and taking orders. Although getting their attention can be rather difficult especially when the place is crowded.
While the atmosphere is very lively, it is difficult to hold a conversation there due to the noise all around you, especially on the second level, even when the band is not playing. You'll end up shouting when you try to talk to someone.
Overall, Wala Wala is a great place to meet up with friends, hang loose and relax after a long day's work! Be careful though, there is an age limit of I think 21, and some of my friends have been stopped from going in before. I don't know why there's such an age limit since it's a pretty chill place, but just take note!
Great for chilling.
Located withing Holland Village is Wala Wala Cafe Bar, a place the girls and I frequent for our chilling session. Reason being it is so accessible, especially with the new Holland Village MRT station operating and also the fact that it isn't so crowded as Clarke Quay.
Being a frequent customer, my advice to those who'd like to try to come early as the place is usually packed, especially after 10.They do have a waiting list, if that's any consolation to you, but be warned, sometimes waiting time can take up to 45 minutes.
The staffs are friendly, so feel free to ask for recommendations if you can't make up your mind. My friends and I pestered them for the contents of each shots they had, and the waiter attending to us explained everything to us in detail with a smile on his face. Sincere or not, it must had took him a great deal of patience since we girls are so indecisive, it infuriates even me sometimes.WE had a "blowjob" and it's surprisingly good, as how the waiter had uncomfortably assured us it would be.
For food, I'd recommend the wings. Booze and chicken wings, it makes the night complete. Or so we though if we weren't exceptionally hungry and decided to order a pizza. Looking at their varieties, I'm sure there's one for everyone. You could even create your own pizza too!
For drinks, we decided to buy a bottle of whisky as there was an attractive deal going on. Check the menu and choose the deal for you - liquor or beer. For liquor, if you can't finish it, they'll let you keep it till your next visit. Just make sure to bring that little piece of paper for reference next time!
Great place to chill. Good service. Friendly staff.
