Fantastic lay out, fast service and my new favourite band

Turns out that my favourite kinds of bars are the ones which include bands with Drag Queens as their lead singers, thanks to my trip to the Fern and Kiwi Bar. Truthfully I didn’t expect a lot from my night, just looked like an average bar in Clarke Quay, it looked nice online, but just a bit ‘meh’. Going in though my heart rejoiced as the first thing that I saw were there were seats. Lots of seats. If I hate one thing more than anything when going out it’s having to stand all night in my painful heels whilst watching the lucky few sit down in the treasured available seats. But here, there were tons of bar stools around tables and booths around the edges, so the lazy girl inside of me was very happy indeed.

Not just this but I thought that the layout itself was really good, the serving area of the bar wasn’t on one side of the room, but in the middle so that there were two sides the bar staff could serve from quickly. The dance area was separate from the seating, and the place just felt buzzing, the atmosphere was fun and exciting and just what you want from a night out.

If possible, definitely go on a night when they have live music playing. I’m not normally a fan of live music in a small venue as if they’re not very good it’s just painfully awkward, but the music here is all about covering fun songs. Don’t bash live music until you listen to a Drag Queen singing Uptown Funk, it will change your life.
