The ambience is better than the cheesecake

The Cheesecake Cafe as the name suggests, is a place to go to for your cheesecake cravings. I tried the cake of the day, the raspberry cheesecake. It looked really really good in pictures because of the wine colour of the raspberry contrasted with the cream coloured cheese. The raspberry topping was good but the cheesecake was not so good. I was expecting something richer but this one was neither rich nor fluffy. The texture was somewhat like the no-bake cheesecake texture that is quite limpy.

My friend's chocolate cake fared a little better. Needless to say, I was quite disappointed with the cakes and they don't come cheap too. The ambience was really nice with the water feature at the back of the place. But the seats at the back were hogged by people who looked like they've been there the whole day.

Expensive and overhyped

Having heard about the hype over the cheesecake cafe, I made my way there with a few friends one day. It is pretty inaccessible for those who do not drive as the cafe is located just along the roadside and parking too, can be an issue for those who drive.

We ordered 2 cakes to share. One being the rum and raisin cheesecake and the other being the oreo cheesecake. We also ordered a pot of tea, tea bag style. The cheesecakes were quite huge, though they don't look as nice and appetizing as how I thought it would be. Nevertheless, when I took my first bite, it tasted better than it looked. It was thick but not too sweet. However, it became a bit "jelat" after half a slice of cake. I thought that both the cakes were not too bad but not superb as well.

When the bill came, I was taken aback. We paid about $30 for 2 slices of cake and a pot of tea. It is actually very expensive, especially when the cakes weren't that fantastic. However, because they open till late, it attracts many young adults there for supper.
