Can't say no to promotion
The Obolo at Rochester Park was recently opened, and my friends and I went to try it. The staff told us there was some offer for their opening and we couldn't say no. We didn't try any of their desserts, although the macarons and cakes looked delicious.
It was lunchtime so we ordered a few sandwiches. I had the smoked salmon which was delicious. As with most other smoked salmon, I find the salmon a tad too salty. It could also be due to the fact that I like to save my salmon for last, so the salmon is eaten on its own. My friends all remarked that their own sandwiches were delicious. My friend also had the chocolate milkshake which he wouldn't stop raving about after the meal.
The place was small (seriously, it's very small) although one could sit outside if they wished. A nice chat about the literary works we had to study happened there, and I remember it as a wonderful afternoon.
Greeted by colourful and delicious macarons that make you go back for more!
I would always be dragged by the force of temptation and addiction to this shop – Obolo and greeted by a shelf of colourful irresistible-looking macarons. The whole stretch simply makes it look like a rainbow. The macarons were a little more pricy than the normal ones, but it was a reasonable pricing for such delicious standards! You will not regret paying the extra $1 for it! It’s the quality that count isn’t it?
What is more special about the macarons is that they have alcoholic flavours like Champagne and Brandy! Not many places have it. And the champagne flavour even has sprinkles of gold specks on the shells, how exquisite! For the standard flavours, the cream filling was so smooth and intensely flavoured. My favourites are Hazelnut and bittersweet chocolate. There’s a slight crunchiness of the shell combined with the buttery taste that tasted so heavenly. A fantastic variety to choose from and I really hoped that I can try every single flavour that is available!
Go have a bite of it and you’ll definitely enjoy!
Obolo not only sell savories, but they also specialise in their dessert department too. I visited the outlet at rochester park to satisfy my cravings for saccharine sweet, artificially coloured sweets, what else but macarons.
Coloured, sugar filled meringues glued together by more sugar and butter. Well, let's just focus on the taste, after all we are already eating desserts, so let's go all the way.
I bought a box of 6 to bring back. Even before reaching my refrigerator, i had already chewed down 2 different flavors.
They were sweet, but not TOO sweet that will give me migraines like some places do them. The fillings were also not too sweet, and the meringue layers were crisp followed by a soft sensation when i chewed through the sugared hamburger.
I was pleased with all 6 flavors and i can't wait to go back for more.
