I stayed at the Grand Mecure Roxy yesterday night as part of an article, and I was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't the facilities of the hotel or the room that impressed me, it was the attitude of the service staff.
True, I have stayed in my fair share of hotels, both locally and overseas, but this easily goes hits my top 5. When I first stepped into the hotel lobby, everyone from the security guard and the concierge personnel greeted me. It may not seem like much, but these are the little things that count. The rest of my night's stay was good - the sheets were warm and clean, the room beautifully decorated with contemporary art hanging on the walls.
Roxy was the first local hotel that I stayed in and for the price, i would say that it is really reasonable as the room was a big room. It is probably the size of a living room and after you put the king size bed, there is still enough floor area to put another king size bed. That is roughly an estimation of the size.
The room has a very business like interior theme and although business like, the dark colours add a touch of classiness to it. The furnishings are all new with ergonomic chairs, chrome plated desk lamps, and flat screen TVs. There is even a small coffee table with sofa near the window for you to see the pool or the east coast park, depending which view you choose. The overall quality of the room is very good. Room service was pretty good and the food is nice to eat, but as usual, by the time it comes up the food is only a bit warm and not hot anymore and the price is pretty expensive.
Breakfast is a bit less exciting although it is a western buffet style. Choices are not much for such a big hotel, so I would prefer to go the Parkway Parade for breakfast instead.
