fond childhood memories with Amara
Amara was the hotel my family would stay in during the school holidays in place of traveling overseas. It has great facilities and staff are welcoming and friendly. (: The place is also quiet and relaxing for a getaway! Best of all, it is located in the Central Business District, convenient for shopping and sightseeing.
The rooms are clean and beds very comfortable to sleep on, even the extra rolling bed requested for me when I was much younger). There are also various restaurants located for one to dine at, ranging from western to chinese cuisine.
My favourite place to be in Amara would be their swimming pool, which is designed with Balinese themes and has mini waterfalls to soak oneself and deckchairs both in shelter and in the sun for a tan. I would go there both in the mornings and the nights, and even though occasionally there will be a few people there, it was overall quiet and relaxing, with everyone mindful of each other (:
Great ambiance and furniture, but not perfect.
Though not well known, this hotel has great service and facilities.
Let's start with the room. The furniture is well laid out and there is quite some space. Great for tourist with much luggage, as there is space to put them out and pack them. The toilet maintains the cleanliness of the room, and comes well equipped with all the essential toiletries. However, the marble floor does tend to feel very cold for the feet. Fortunately though, 2 pairs of slippers can be found in the room.
The beds are neat and soft, and it has been tough to keep myself awake on the bed as it is just so comfortable!
They also have a fully equipped gym, great for working out. Beside it is a swimming pool, rather small but it serves the purpose of relaxing and chilling out.
This hotel scores well for having a full range of posh facilities. However, they do not have any free internet connection. This would be notable for those without 3G data plans. It's location is rather distanced from popular areas, though the Tanjong Pagar MRT station is located just next to it. There are many eateries around the area, and the famous Maxwell hawker centre is just a stone's throw away.
Overall, it has been a great relaxing experience. I would not recommend it for tourist, but it is great for those on business trips or just locals who want to have a relaxing week away from home.
