The National Parks (NParks) have certainly did much to spruce up our little island in recent years. I am sure many of us have at one time or another, enjoyed strolls , cycle on along the expansive park connectors or just chill out one of the many lovely public parks somewhere near our house.

My personal favourite relatively new park have to be the beautiful Punggol Promenade, with it’s generous timber boardwalks and the Punggol jetty where you can enjoyed nice sunset. But for those residing in the north-western area, the Woodlands Waterfront is the undisputed “best” public park (at least in my personal humble opinion).

Strolling to and along the jetty is a highlight at the park. Recommended timing would be  in the late afternoon or when the sun is setting.

The Johor Straits, as viewed from the jetty at Woodlands Waterfront.

Woodlands Waterfront, is a park that hugs the northern coastline and consists a 1.5km long waterfront promenade. The park is about 11-hectare and one of the two main attraction are  a large  playground that will caters to both young and old and a 400m ex-naval jetty that supports a variety of recreational activities and community events. It is also linked to Admiralty Park and a 25km Northern Explorer Park Connector Network. (Source: NParks)

The playground with the netted “Sky Bridges and Sky Cabins”.. talk about “networking” 🙂

The playground will entertain and occupy many a children for a good hour or more. This pic was taken before the playground was recently renovated.

Awesome swinging good times for the children…

The Sky Bridges and Sky Cabins which are two-storeys high, will attract energetic youths and adults to expend calories in the netted setting. The elderly are not forgotten. They can find fitness equipment specially suited for their needs and young children can enjoy the slides and swing equipment.

Morning or evening walks at the jetty is a great way to enjoy the outdoor at this park.

Family bonding at the jetty. Bring your own bicycles here though, as there is no bicycles rental service at this moment.

A bit of “waves” from passing vessels…

The 400m jetty is one of the longest coastal jetties in Singapore that offers park visitors sweeping view the Straits of Johor. However, this jetty has a ambience that is vastly different from the Bedok Jetty in the East Coast Park as it is essentially a water channel between Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore. You don’t experience the waves as in a seaside environment.  But you do get to see little waves created by speeding coastal patrol crafts and some other vessels. Do take note that fishing is only allowed at certain stretch of the jetty.

Kites flying is a favourite activity at the park… no trees to enshare your precious kites if you stay away from the fringe of the sloping opened area.

Picnic is another great way to pass time at the park. With great evening view to match…
