With Valentine’s Day round the corner, the search is on for the perfect restaurant to bring your significant other. Perched atop Ann Siang Hill, you will be able to enjoy a scenic view of low-lying Chinatown in an intimate setting. All dishes featured in this article are included in the Breeze’s special Valentine’s Day Menu ($160++ per couple).

Welcome Cocktail

Love Lace

We were welcomed with a special concoction of pineapple juice, raspberry puree, grapefruit juice and kiwi vodka. Cleverly christened Love Lace, the cocktail symbolises all the intricacies of being in love. It’s light and refreshing, and prepares your palate for the melange of flavours ahead.

Starter

Foie Gras on Brioche with Mango and Balsamic Reduction

We started off with foie gras served on brioche and garnished with mango slices. This dish was all about the harmony of contrasting flavours. Not only did the tangy mango balance out the foie gras’ creaminess nicely, when paired with the brioche, a delightful medley of textures ensued.

Soup

Seafood Chowder

Unlike most chowders, this one comes in a pleasant warm orange instead of white. Generously filled with fresh prawns and mussels – neither too creamy nor too sour – the Seafood Chowder really hit the spot for us.

Mains

Couples will get to choose either one of these three main courses each.

Cereal Crusted Salmon in Dashi Sauce with Yuzu with Seasonal Vegetables

b2ap3_thumbnail_Cereal-Crusted-Salmon-in-Yuzu-Shoyu-and-Golden-Lime-sauce-with-Seasonal-Vegetables.jpgWe liked how this dish had an uniquely Asian twist. The cereal crust topping added crunch to the already crispy skin, complimenting the tender and juicy meat underneath well.

Duck Leg Confit served with USA Asparagus and Seasonal Vegetables

This was the highlight of the night. Sous vide cooking made the duck surprisingly tender and not at all dry. The duck’s skin was cooked to a golden brown crisp which went really well with the thick, creamy potato mash. Better yet, the pineapple salsa gave the entire dish a pleasant, zesty taste.

Beef Tenderloin in Red Wine Reduction with Pumpkin Mash and Seasonal Vegetables

Brown and caramelized on the surface with just a tinge of red in the middle, the Chateaubriand steak was char-grilled perfectly. It was served with a delicate pumpkin puree that was both sweet and light. Surprisingly, the mash was not overpowered by the beef, but complemented it.

Dessert

Churros served with Vanilla Ice Cream, Berry Compote and Dark Chocolate Shooter

b2ap3_thumbnail_Churros-served-with-Vanilla-Ice-Cream-Berry-Compote-and-Dark-Chocolate-shooter.jpgFor dessert, we were presented with churros handmade by the Chef himself, served with vanilla ice cream, berry compote and dark chocolate. Though the Swiss vanilla ice cream and berry compote proved to be a good combination, we found this item a tad underwhelming on the whole.

Verdict

Not only is the ambience great for a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner, each dish is also crafted with care. Warm your loved one’s heart with a dinner at Breeze this Valentine’s Day.
