Shokutsu Ten

 

Walk down the newly renovated Shokutsu Ten Japanese Food Street and you’ll feel as if you were transported to Japan as it introduces its first Japanese Food Alley in Singapore.

New concepts includes Ginzushi, a sushi lovers’ paradise that serves up sashimi, chirashi dons and even premium unagi creations starting from just $2. And you can get affordable grab-and-go nosh at Tenfuku with tempura rice bowls going from $7.80.

Other familiar names include Idaten Udon and Wadori, where you can snack on quick and satisfying udon bowls from $5.60, and delectable Japanese skewers (8 for $10.50, 12 for $15.50) respectively.

Chewy and fluffy donut encased in a thin chocolate shell – for $2.20 a piece!

Besides other restaurants like Men-ichi Ramen, Shabu-ichi Hokkaido Hotpot Buffet and Japanese pasta cafe Kabe no Ana, you’ll find street stalls selling mochi, cakes, Japanese snacks, and even super kawaii cat donuts at Gokoku Japanese bakery

 

Mongkok

With vivid flashing neon sign boards lining this walkway, Mongkok street is an impressive replication of its original counterpart in Hong Kong. Here, you’ll find provision shops selling old school snacks, Hong Kong food diners, and even a mahjong shop!

We stopped by Legendary Hong Kong to check out their authentic handmade mini egg tarts (3 for $5.40). These were all flaky, buttery goodness with a creamy, eggy center that simply dissolved in our mouths. 

 

Malaysia Boleh!

Our neighbour across the causeway was also represented – stroll along this nostalgic food street and tuck into dishes like kway chap, curry fish head, and chilli ban mian!

Rustic pushcarts like those of the good ol’ kampong days

If you have a weakness for kuehs or dessert, good news: you’ll also find an alluring assortment of traditional nonya kuehs starting from just $1! 

Malaysia Boleh! has also recently been zhng-ed with a new extension, so even if you’ve been here before for their delectable Malaysian food offerings, there are now more stalls to explore, including Zi-Char stall Seafood Restoran Gohtong Jaya for its signature Penang Fish Head and Crispy Marmite Belly Pork!
