Glamping in Singapore is now possible

Glamping - Two Girls Guitar

The thought of camping would probably bring flashbacks of uncomfortable school camps, where you lay on the cold hard ground wrapped in a thin sleeping bag while becoming food for bloodthirsty mosquitoes.

But contrary to our dreaded memories of roughing it out, glamping – a portmanteau of “glamorous” and “camping”-  offers a stylish and comfortable outdoor camping experience that even the most unadventurous of us will enjoy.

We tried glamping out for ourselves at East Coast Park with Glamping Society, and here’s how it went down.

About Glamping Society

As Singapore’s first glamping company, Glamping Society offers a fancy themed camping experience right in our little red dot. Their bohemian, gypsy-inspired aesthetic undoubtedly breaks the stereotypes of conventional camping, presenting an attractive alternative to boutique hotel staycations.

Our glamping experience

Glamping - Picnic Spread

As we approached our campground, we were greeted by a canvas tent and picnic setup that looked straight out of a fairytale – where pillow seats flanked a rustic crate table with glass plates, cups, and silver disposable utensils. The burlap bunting tied on the trees added a whimsical touch. Needless to say, we immediately fell in love with this other-worldly setting.

Lydia – the owner of Glamping Society – was there to receive us with warm hospitality during our check-in.

Glamping - Scones

Our Sleepover + Picnic Under The Stars package came with a complimentary picnic set for six, which included a sweet selection of teatime favorites like muffins, scones, iced lemon tea, and a strawberry platter.

Glamping - Flatlay

This little picnic was so atas we almost felt compelled to eat our dabao-ed potato chips with the silver cutlery, and drink our iced lemon tea with raised pinkies.

As if this was not fancy enough, stepping into the luxurious bell tent itself felt as though we’d delved straight into a Tumblr post.

Glamping - Fairy Lights

Our tent had fairy lights dangling from the ceiling, four double air mattresses draped with bedding, an aztec-patterned rug – and even a flamingo float for that summery aesthetic.

Glamping - Friends Chilling

Besides their magical decor, Glamping Society’s tents are also well-equipped with a fan, and ventilation windows to let the sea breeze in.

Glamping - Hammock

A canvas hammock is also provided, so you can chill against the seascape to the gentle lilt of crashing waves.

Glamping - Toilet

Fear not if you need the loo. There is a public bathroom just a three-minute stroll away from the glamping area, where you can take a shower too – just remember to bring some slippers, soap, and a towel.

As for food options, there are eateries just a 15-20 minute walk away which you can head to for dinner.

Glamping - Breakwater

As evening approaches, head out to the breakwater to catch the sunset.

Glamping - Two Girls Guitar

This glamping getaway was quite the experience for us. From the impeccably decorated glampground, to the priceless seaview, and the comfortable laid-back setting, I’d say that this is a staycation worth experiencing again.

Glamping would also make for the perfect alternative location for birthday party sleepovers, romantic getaways, and family outings, and we’d highly recommend it to those looking for an adventure within their comfort zone.

Note: Glamping Society’s services are available to only Singaporeans, PRs, and Singapore Work Pass Permit Holders due to National Park camping regulations.
