This restaurant is quite popular so I came here with my friend to try it for the first time. We ordered the set that was meant for 1 person because we were unsure if they taste good. If the food doesn't fill our stomach, we plan to venture to other restaurants.
To our surprise, the serving is very huge, no wonder many Westerners have obesity problem. After eating the appetizer, our stomachs are already half-filled. In the end, we couldn't finish all the food. I'm sorry I couldn't help much as I couldn't remember their names but then the food did not taste really good. It was quite cheap, about RM30+ for a set which can be shared among 2-3 girls. There are also many variety of food which makes me want to try again.
My base of measurements for restaurants in its class
TGI Fridays, the restaurant that my generation perceives to be only for the rich and famous. Well, only because the kids of my generation love to exaggerate and generalize. Anyway, I remember having my lunch here my classmate and his uncle to celebrate the return of his stolen Mitsubishi GTO.
I didn't want to take advantage of my friend's uncle's generosity of paying for our food so I ordered the Tennessee Burger. It was beautifully done, really big for a burger in Malaysia. It is as big as the picture of the Whopper in Burger King advertisements. Wasn't a big fan of the sauce though as it made the burger tasted sweet but it is still pretty good.
An interesting dish I found there was the macaroni and cheese as it wasn't your regular mac & cheese. Instead, it was deep fried and served in squares but don't let the looks deceive you as it is indeed genuine mac & cheese. If anyone is willing to buy me lunch here, I'd be willing to show you other good foods to order :P
Yay for the desert
What I love most about this eatery is their ambiance and great staffs. I always love dark-looking restaurant as it has its own persona. TGI nailed that and apart of being all gloomy, they have all these decorations and pretty lamps to make the whole place feel welcoming, warm and great to enjoy.
Staffs are utmost friendly, quick and responsive. I love how they treated the customers as their old friends and have a chat in between.
Taste-wise, the food have nothing to boast about. They're just ordinary. I couldn't find anything that I can regard as the best meal ever, everything is adequate. But the deserts won my votes. Yummy, delicious, sweet and creamy, I love them all.
Good grilled items
I love the upbeat atmosphere and the energy of the staff in the restaurant. They make diners feel welcome and cheerful with the impromptu singing and the warm greetings. Just like other American diners, TGI Friday's serves extremely large portions. The food is suitable for sharing.
The buffalo wings is always a must-order for my family. I personally don't really like it but my sister loves it. I find the taste so-so, not knowing what to expect of buffalo wings. I guess I must go to Texas and taste it myself to be able to be a good judge of whether the buffalo wings served here is up to standard. Their grilled snapper and grilled chicken are quite good. Those are the few dishes I remember because every time we go, we would order different items on the menu.
Friendly customer service
Entering TGIF for a friend's bday, we were all greeted with great smiles and wishes. We were quickly seated and was awaited to be taken orders immediately!
The food there is pretty similar to any grills around such as Chili's. But the price is a tad more expensive. Their celebration for birthdays are pretty unique. They would come with a mini cake and sing you a happy birthday song, but they also have some gimmicks to celebrate it! They made my friend blow the candle from afar with a straw and also made him dance to the 'oppa-gangnam style'. I personally like the burger there other than the rest.
Food there is pretty reasonable and is worth having a celebration at.
