Seawalking on Sapi Island...
Chanced upon this seawalking operator through a tour agent... the price is about the market rate (not cheap, as the equipment is expensive..about USD30,000 per "breathing helmet", not to mention the maintenance and staff cost)...
Borneo Seawalking conducts their seawalking at Sapi Island, which just a 10min fast boat ride from the private jetty just across the Hyatt Hotel at Kota Kinabalu. Many of their participants are from Korea but a local staff will be assigned to take care of other nationalities. English langauge is the common language used.
The firm have a office on Sapi Island and a safety briefing lasting about 5min with instruction will be conducted prior seawalking commencement, which held at a floating pontoon just off Sapi Island (2-3min speed boat ride)
Rubber booties is made available to participants who need to be in swimwear. The seawalk lasts about 15min and will be photographed and videoed by the safety divers. There are a anemone with clown fishes which participants can hold and have their pics taken for memories.
The equipment are fairly in good condition. However, for younger children who may have fear of going deep underwater (3-4m) in sometimes choppy water , it's better to check out other operators with covered full-serviced pontoon for a better experience.
Overall I rate the outing average as the staff do not quite interact or make the occasion more "fun" (or at least that's what happened during my trip).
