Perhaps one of the things that excites me the most about 1 Utama is that the mall seems alive and growing. Despite all the malls in the vicinity, there's still a lot of people here and I think I know why. It's just overflowing with life and the mall is constantly improving.
Personally for me, I do love the food choices 1 Utama has to offer. I always look for snacks whenever I'm accompanying someone for a window shopping session and this mall provides just that. I frequent Aunty Anne's and Bread Story. It's really a perfect food to eat while on the go. Whenever I feel really hungry, I would go to Chicago Rib House for the famous Chicago Pork Rib. It really does hit the spot.
In terms of shopping, don't worry, you'll find plenty of items that will suite your needs. From clothing, to pharmacies and also saloon services. There just something for everyone right here in 1 Utama and to top it off, the Golden Screen Cinema! It is indeed a perfect mall for me.
It evolves just as much as a Pokemon or a Digimon!
I have been to 1 Utama when it was still a small shopping mall. How small? The mall only consists of what you people now know as the Old Wing. I also remember seeing the TV show 'Senario' filming their movie at the open-air parking lot at 1 Utama. And ever since then, 1 Utama has grown bigger and bigger to accommodate their growing number of customers.
Just like Mid Valley Megamall, this mall is complete with cinemas, restaurants, a bowling alley and tons of fashion outlets. It is a shopping haven for fashionistas everywhere. The only problem with this place is that the parking lot doesn't have proper directions. If you were as unlucky as me, you would've ended up at the end where you have to insert ticket without knowing it. Other than that, a memorable part of my childhood that has continued to grow ever since.
Great neighborhood mall
If you're into serious shopping, head down to his mall. Having the chance to see the transformation of this place from a nice neighbourhood mall into a top shopping mall, I always consider 1 Utama as my favorite. Despite being renovated and transformed into a gigantic shopping paradise, this place has never lose its charm. I love how convenient it is to find a parking spot even during crowded weekend, how the array of shops always amaze me and how I can always find the thing I was looking for in this mall.
This mall is family friendly and have various public facilities for the convenience of shoppers. I also love the fact that they have planted greens everywhere and it gives the mall a nice breather too.
With a new expansion on its old wing, I will definitely no spend the whole day doing my shopping activity in this mall.
Heaven for climbers!
1 Utama has been a regular hangout place for me for the past few years. As a rock climber myself, the most attractive part of 1 Utama is Camp5 Rock Climbing Gym. Being one of the biggest indoor climbing gyms in Southeast Asia, Camp5 offers their climbers various climbing routes; from entry-level routes to professional lead climb walls. As a regular climber there, I really enjoy the air-conditioned environment there that keeps climbers comfortable at all times. Besides, Camp5 is also the place where I started to pledge my love towards the art of rocks, which is why it meant quite a lot to me.
Good thing that grows
My major attraction towards a mall comes from its food outlets. If a mall has plenty to eat, you can bet it becomes one of my favorite places to go. I never like to shop on an empty stomach and when I have something nice to eat, like at Vietnam Kitchen, then I feel happier and will be more prone to shop and actually buy something.
The mall's expansion really delighted me as I only saw it as something that was good, becoming better. The mall is a shopper's haven with the many outlet brands it carries such as Body Glove and Forever 21 which accomodates to young men and women. It also comes with a gym located at the top floor so if you work at an office nearby, you could drive by after work and have a workout. Afterwards you could have something to eat and shop.
This mall is complete in every single way.
There's lots of dining choices there. Those I particularly like are Vietnam Kitchen, Chicago Rib House, Delicious Cafe and some bakeries including Sunmoulin and Lavender bakery. This whole mall has a really complete selection of dining choices from Western to Japanese to Vietnamese and so on. It's good for those who stay around the area to have dinner there. My family loves the Vietnam Kitchen's set menu. The claypot fish is especially good.
Besides F&B, this place is a shopping haven. There's a good range of both high end and not-so-high end brands. There's Dorothy Perkins, CK, Armani, Cotton On, FCUK, Forever 21 and Gap to name a few. Phone shops are abundant there. After some shopping and a meal, one can go grocery shopping at Cold Storage. The size of this mall makes it able to house almost everything one wants in a shopping mall. A very complete mall indeed.
All in one mall
The mall is getting bigger now. There are plenty of interesting spots in the building where you can easily spend one whole day in the mall. Not to say the parking fee is not so expensive. They should invest in Touch N Go parking which could attract more people. There is a gym and is located at the bridge between two buildings. Very good place to sweat as you will be looking at the highway while running on treadmills. Other than that, there are futsal field at top of the building, the turf is good while is a little expensive to play there.
