I prefer the noodles of Mamee compared to Maggi and it is more springy. As for the flavours, generally i prefer Maggi but I think Mamee curry tastes better as it has more depth in it. Both Maggi Tomyam and Mamee tomyam taste artificial and do not taste like tom yam but I quite like them.
The cheap Mamee Monsters was my absolute favourite snacks when i was a kid. I remember that there was a female Mamee Monster in red which my admirer gave to me when I was in kindergarten! It is unhealthy so my parents would not allow me to have much of them though. Sometimes, I would eat it without the salt mix and it still tastes good.
Nom Nom Noodle Snack
Who doesn't love MAMEE? At an average of 30 cents per packet, it is so affordable that you can pretty much have it as and when you want. Not a good idea though, as this snack is high in MSG.
As a child, it was one of my favourite snacks. Whenever I passed by a mama shop, I would almost always get a packet to munch on while walking home. I don't know what it is about this snack that is so comforting. The blue friendly-looking Mamee Monster on the packet has also become quite iconic, and never fails to bring me back to my childhood.
Despite it being unhealthy, I still love it to this day. However, I would advise kids to not follow in my footsteps and snack on this too much due to the high salt content. Like they say, everything's always better in moderation :)
Food for thought
Ahh yes, Mamee monster. I do think that anyone who grew up in Malaysia would be very familiar with this brand. I personally used to eat Mamee monster as a kid. It was a a simple yet fascinating meal. It brings me and my other siblings together. The good times. I recalled how we were always fighting for the last packet from the big box. Yet, we always end up sharing it.
It was the sheer simpleness of sharing a snack with your family that brings a smile to my face whenever I reminisce about my childhood.
For all of you who doesn't know, Mamee Monster is the noodle snack that is produced by this company. It taste just like the typical instant noodle. Except that it is much crunchy and minus the hassle of cooking it. I still love it now. But I would try to control my consumption as it is quite unhealthy.
I remember having trouble gaining weight as a kid. No matter how much I eat, I can never seem to gain any weight. If anything, I grew in height rather than width. As a way to gain weight, I tend to snack a lot. One of the snack I often munch on is the Mamee Noodle Snack. It looks like a regular instant noodle that you're supposed to cook but you can eat it straight away. I personally don't like the seasoning as it made taste super salty so I just eat it like that.
Nowadays, I usually see the Mamee Instant Noodles on shelves and advertisements. I've bought their curry flavoured one and it didn't taste so great. Maggi Instant Noodles definitely taste better.
An addictive snack
As a child I would beg my mum to buy my brother and I a few packets of MAMEE to eat. My preferred way of eating was to slowly bite off chunks and slowly chew. My brother had a bette idea, which was to smash the snack into bits before opening the packaging and enjoying it noodle by noodle. There are many ways to eat the snack but all of them gives you the same satisfaction of eating MAMEE. It never occurred to me how the MAMEE monster really resembled the cookie monster from Sesame Street and so whenever I saw the cute blue monster munching cookies, i would start screaming and asking for MAMEE instead.
The snack has stuck on me and even now as an adult, I still buy the snack every now and then jsut to satisfy my inner child. I just cry and beg for it less now.
Never-changing taste a throwback to my childhood days
All throughout my childhood schooling days, it was a regular sight to see Mamee noodles snack in it's signature yellow packaging sitting on shelves in many many shops all over. And being an affordable 30 cents, I used to regard it as one of my favourite snacks. Although my elders would warn me against eating it too much, I couldn't resist it!
Now that I'm older, I'm no longer as hung up on it like before, but I still do like to snack on it at times. The taste of Mamee hasn't changed over the years and it's a throwback to my childhood days.
I used to think Mamee was real instant noodle.
This is definitely one of the favorite nostalgic snacks from my childhood.
If I don’t remember wrongly, Mamee comes in several flavors and I preferred Barbeque flavor the most. And I love to crunch it before eating instead of munching the one whole piece.
I still remember one day when I was still in pre-school, and my mum was having an afternoon nap at that time. Driven by curiosity, I tried to “cook” the Mamee snacks by soaking it in some hot water from the kettle. How ridiculous.
And of course, the Mamee snacks was totally ruined by me since it is a noodle snack that is intended to be eaten raw. So, yeah, this is one of the stupid things I did during childhood.
A favourite since young.
Since I was in primary school, I'd always turn to my favourite noodle snack whenever I felt like snacking while in school. It was that easy to get a packet of Mamee noodles since then, and it still is. You can easily find one at convenience stores, 'mama' shops, supermarkets, etc. And for what? A couple of cents per pack only!
What I love about Mamee noodles is that I can either break it off easily and throw a small piece of the whole thing into my mouth and crunch on it, or just bite it as it is. Its level of saltiness ultimately depends on how much powder you want to add into the packet, and it's fun to shake the whole thing to make sure that the noodle snack is covered with the powder! Of course, as nice as it is, one shouldn't eat Mamee noodles too much because its saltiness is not healthy.
I hope Mamee noodles continues to keep people of all ages contented with a delicious and cheap snack at any time of the day.
Tastes so good you can't just say no
This really brings back old memories. Mamee has been one of my favourite snacks since I was young. I believe a lot of children would be familiar with the blue furry Mamee monster. It comes in Chicken and BBQ flavour which is my favourite flavour. Many people would add the seasoning powder into the packet and give it an Oppa Gangnam Style shake before enjoying it but I prefer eating it without the seasoning. The crispy noodle tastes just as nice on its own.
A funny incident happened once when I was a kid where I made a mistake and thought that Mamee instant noodles were the Mamee monster I frequently snacked on. That was such a shock when I took a bit into the instant noodles...that I remember it till today.
Still my choice of snacks
Everyone should have at least try a bit of this tasty snack. Crispy snack that look like instant noodles and usually I will crash everything and add in the favors then give them a big shake before I start putting it into my mouth. However, when I was older, I change the way I prepare my MAMEE, I simply open up the package and crack them into slices then sprinkle the favors on it. The taste does not change but I feel like easier to eat (maybe my mouth grow bigger now). MAMEE is still affordable snack just that it is not that full compare to old time
