One day, my friend brought a cup of GongCha to class. Having to always only drink Chatime, Gongcha was something new to me. I thought it would just taste like any other milk tea or Chatime-kind of tea. But when I tried their Signature Winter Melon Tea with white pearls, it was awesome!
I love how the white pearls are crunchy-like jellies. It is also tasty. I prefer it much more compared to the normal pearls that they serve at other milktea outlets. As to the flavour of their milk tea and winter melon tea, I guess it's nothing that great. But their milk which they use, are extra sweet, so I usually go for less sugar and less ice.
Gongcha is now my top favourite drink store though!
Yummu salty cream
Their signature drink is really a must-try. Unlike say, KOI's red tea macchiato which has sweet cream on top, Gongcha's is slightly salty. This really brings out the taste of the tea and blends well with the tea. I like to make sure that the cream is not stirred into the drink so that I can taste both the milk tea and the froth separately at the same time, if you know what I mean.
So yes! Please give this bubble tea a try. Although it can be expensive at about RM7, it's worth it to indulge once in a while.

I have to say, I am quite the lover of bubble teas. It was the sheer simplicity of the beverage that makes it an awesome drink! I love how it brings me and my friends together back in my hometown where all we did was order some drinks and chat till we got kicked out of the shop. Well not really, the shop owner was a close friend of ours and we just chatted our evening away.
To put things short, the bubble tea offering in Gong Cha is plentiful and I bet you'll have a hard time choosing for the first time. So, I went for a normal milky tea with pearl. And I had to say, I think the milk texture was pretty rich. It's pretty creamy, so I wouldn't recommend anyone to take this with any heavy meal.
There's something that I don't like though. I went here twice and the queue was long on both occasion. The wait for this bubble tea was killing me. Thankfully, the staffs here work efficiently and I did not have to wait for too long.
Worth a try
There are so many milk tea chains mushrooming all over the city lately and joining the list is Gong Cha. I wasn't expecting much from this outlet because after all, they're just tea with a twist of here and there just like the ordinary tea chains.
Following my friend, I was at the counter and being the typical me, I chose their milk tea without any toppings. Taste-wise, they're just average but personally, much better than the overrated Chatime.
The choice is quite a lot and my friend bought herself a cup of winter melon tea and her drink was perfect. The sugar level is just nice but I don't like her jelly. But at least, they're good enough for fussy me.
I will definitely pay Gong Cha another visit and try their other drinks because I think they're quite good without all the hype from their rival chains.
Milk froth is genius.
When I first saw the Gong Cha menu, I was very overwhelmed by the sheer variety of drinks they had to offer and the different types of jelly you could choose from. Not knowing what to get, I just chose a standard milk tea with pearl. I wasn’t that impressed, but it was good enough for me to give their other teas a try.
One of my favourite things from Gong Cha is their white pearl jelly, which has a very different texture than that of your usual black pearl. The texture is like mini-balls of agar agar. Another favourite would be their Winter Melon Milk Tea. I’ve never had anything like it before and the mixture of the savory milk froth with the slightly sweet tea plays the most wonderful symphony on your mouth. Definitely one of the better salty meets sweet combinations around.
When I take my first sip on my Signature Winter Melon Tea, I instantly fell in love with it. The saltiness of the foam first touches my lip, then followed by the sweetness of the winter melon tea. If you stir the drink, the whole drink will turn to something similar to milk tea, albeit a slight salty one, still, divinely good.
I ordered my drink with my favorite topping, in chatime it's called grass jelly; here, it's herbal jelly. Honestly after I tried the herbal jelly here, I never wanted to return to the grass jelly that I used to order.
No wonder my friends always recommend me to drink Gong Cha. It's definitely worth a try!
Winter Melon Milk Tea is the BEST
I keep a little Gong-Cha Menu in my wallet, so whenever I go shopping, I will take out my little menu to choose which milk tea I want to drink on that day. However, I always ended up leaving with the Winter Melon Milk Tea. There are three ways of drinking their Winter Melon Milk Tea. With the cup unsealed, I will drink the Winter Melon Tea first, with the whipped cream still floating above before I drink the whipped cream. After that I will mix them together by stirring. Although the Winter Melon Tea and the whip cream tastes normal on its own, when both are mixed together, it tastes heavenly.
Loving their milk froth.
I used to drink bubble teas from Chatime very often before I had my second Gong Cha’s signature milk tea. Why second but not first? This is simply the first time I went to Gong Cha, I did not order the right drink.
Without the word 'Signature', the drink I got myself is just Winter Melon Tea which tastes exactly like Yeo’s packet drinks. Until my friend introduced me to their Signature Winter Melon Milk Tea, yes it’s still winter melon tea, but with additional layer of milk foam on top this time.
Honestly, I never thought that the milk froth can make such a big difference to its taste. The combination of winter melon tea and the creamy milk foam is so amazingly well. Ever since that, between Chatime and Gong Cha, I will always choose the latter.
